Thank you Uber for the new patch! Now I get never below 30 FPS (most times it's about 45-60 FPS) at least I can enjoy the game now more and FPS drops aren't that often any more
Glad things are improving! We're working hard on performance, so it's nice to hear at least some of you are seeing the benefits. Out of curiosity, what gpu are you running on?
Hehe, right... sorry, long week Interesting. Up to now, AMD cards have been a little slower (I'm working on fixing that, but there's some big changes needed to support it). Anyway, it should continue getting faster. If you get a sec, would you mind uploading a performance capture of a large-ish game? CTRL+F11 generates the capture, and the game will spit it out to c:\users\<your username>\appdata\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\PerfLogs\quick*.upf. Zip the file up (they compress down a lot). The more of these I get, the more data I have, the better I can target my optimizations. Let's get you to 60fps...
I must admit before the patch my framerate was very high. I noticed this when my enemy move a massive wing that was sat on the deck. My mate got huge lag and so did the big wing guy, but I got none. And I've been able to get no lag consistently in other peoples laggy games which the developers did promise.
Just to be fair, while i have logged a performance issue. It's more than obvious that over time, the global performance of the game has been dramatically improved (and as being involved in Oracle database performance troubleshooting on a daily basis, i know performance optimization is not the easiest thing to achieve )
Big games (10 players, scale 4 moon) tend to get fairly slow after playing for 25 minutes. I assume it is caused by the server, since the units 'skip' over the planet. After around 45 minutes we normally loose the connection to the server. I don't experience a loss of connection to the server, but I do see units skipping 'round the planet.
