You've got it the wrong way round. Units aren't too big... they're too small. They need to be bigger. Same for planet decals and such too.

    No foolin'.

simple math. Bigger planet, smaller units, slow units, long travel time, slow gameplay, boring game (except for turtle fest lovers)

It's true. The one advantage of PA is that the gameplay is fast paced.

I'd like to think that in this crazy robotic future, that they will be able to handle being massive without any appreciable detrimental effect. But the points about the scale seeming off are valid. I guess you could make other scenery bigger to balance it out? Or make everything smaller...

But then as has been said, smaller everything = more walking =? boring gameplay?
+1 for liking a faster paced game, and don't forget this will probably slow down a bit with bigger planets still to come, and bigger systems too.

At least in TA they are...

so, in PA they are too.

The game has cartoon graphics, it's not supposed to be super realistic!
Really it's an RTS, Not BattleField 4 FPS.
I like it how it is.

In my memory most units from TA and Supcom were very slow. And I liked that. You needed time for your big army to cross the map. And you have to prepare the next run while your army is on it's way.

Slow units adds a + to the scale, because slow units seem heavier than fast units.
    Heavy, big, slow = massive.
This is not always true, but often it is the case. Or not?

I wish we had a weekly "Ask the Devs".
Community voted, top 3 questions of the weeks.

Obviously with rules such as no questions for "when is blah blah blah coming".
Since it's done when it's done.

I would like info on more technical stuff if possible.
    Such as:
    1. What are the difficulties in rescaling units/buildings?
    2. What challenges lie ahead in coding for pathfinding?
    3. What are your thoughts on how to leverage ChonoCam?

I would like having "What's up this week?" returned, that's easier than answer weekly questions.

It's sometimes hard for me to spot bots, any smaller and I will need glasses. If you think this is a problem. Just play on a scale 5 planet, scroll out an extra notch, and pretend the trees are grass and mountains are speed bumps. I dont remember anybody complaining the bots in Pacific Rim were too big.
Edit: Possible worst argument I have ever used.

Although I really like Culverin's wishful thinking in regards to getting some answers to pressing questions such as scale, this thread does need to be closed. Best to keep all ideas in one place I think!

With respect, the naval ships weren't 270 kilometres long in that movie.

I wasn't planning to reply to this thread, since it is a duplicate. But since this thread already grew to 2 pages. Please take the discussion to the thread mentioned above.

As I see it, the pros and cons make it simple. Pros:
    • It (supposedly) makes the game feel more realistic in terms of scale. Mountains don't look so silly.
    Cons:
    • We already have a problem with the game turning into icon wars. This change will only make it worse.
    • If its just a size reduction then deathballs will be even more powerful. If weapons change as well then the game length will dramatically increase.
So in terms of game play and balance I only see advantages for increasing the scale of units. Why would a reduction in scale change game play for the better?

Please don't make duplicate threads. You can continue the discussion here: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/scale-megathread.48650/

On a side note: You can test how semi-realistic dimensions would look like in Kerbal Space Program. There is a free demo.
Build a plane and fly to the next continent. Then build a rover and drive to the north pole. See you in a week... ;P
