    Not gonna close the thread, but gonna unsticky it now. :) Also, feel free to share the facebook/google+ versions all you want (you still won't want to share the "backers only" versions, just because it looks funny).

    This is excellent news, it's always been one of my biggest peeves with TA and FA that putting stuff up on hills doesn't make a lot of difference. In fact in FA it can make things worse off as units at the bottom of the cliff seem to be able to shoot straight up, thus making your artillery on the cliff edge counter-intuitively more vulnerable.

    So yeah, great news! :)

    I think the detail is just right, if not more can be done, definitely does NOT need to be toned down.

    sry I have to do it. I really must necro this thread and I want every uber artist to look at the images in the first post. They look awesome. The scale looks very well. But it doesnt look like the current game.

    I know, this sucks, to be reminded of it all the time, but its the truth.

    Great game should have great scale^^

    btw: Wanted to do taht with the scale image thread, but couldnt find it. But the scale in this and in the other pics are similar, while quite different to the actual game.

    I agree. Terrain seems relatively useless at the moment, like in most RTS games. That canyon base is awesomely defended my artillery and lasers. We need terrain that changes the game like that!

    Agreed but i hardly see this occuring for initial release because of the additional complexity this would bring to pathfinding, procedural generation. Well this does not mean i do not want it for initial release :p

    I'd rather ditch those can/cannot traverse features and have more rolling hill features. Things you want to take to enhance artillery range, or factor in because they'll block your shots. I don't want terrain walls, I want terrain features.

    Metal planets are handling pathfinding better and better by the day. There's no reason normal planets couldn't.

    I was referring to Normal planets with additional features like slopes, plateaux where you can path by (they do not exist yet and probably require additional pathfinding stuff, and AI, since it's all about including Height variation in strategic decisions)
