I was thinking, Nuke's are a necessary evil, it would be nice if there was some way to maybe add a bit more complexity. How about make them heavily reliant on GPS satellites? This could either be as a method to simply improve their range, or something more complex where they drastically lose the ability to hit accurately when they descend to their target making them an expensive, highly inaccurate artillery (but still potentially useful if you're hitting an enemy which has a sprawled yet high value base, with orbital defences preventing GPS coverage).
I don't agree with the OP, because I think nukes should be awesome and shouldn't be reliant on orbitals. The fact that we need to target a unit and that we need sight or radar to that unit is rather annoying already especially since the nuke only targets the location of the unit selected. I think you should be able to nuke and target the ground. In previous annihilation games you could target the ground and the change came as a slight surprise. Can Uber tell us if we are going to get a ground targeting function for some weapons so that we can manually lead our targets or shoot invisible ones? Maybe we just want to make the best use of the AOE.
You can target the ground, just click the attack button in the unit panel and left click the ground anywhere you want a large explosion to soon occur.
Nukes requiring support for accuracy could be an interesting feature may make them a little less binary. But in second thoughts the explosion is so big would kinda have to be very inaccurate.
