So, for a while now I've recalled placing radars in craters, but never did bother to give it a further look. So I did. If you want to place anything besides radars in a crater, you're out of luck. Which makes me wonder, why can't other buildings be placed that way? It would be nice to be able to do this with mexes. Maybe it's related to the AI being able to place buildings where and in ways that players cannot. (There's also an AI Commander in that pit. Even without the radar towers, I could only see one of his feet. Poor thing was upside-down!)
I thought the original idea with craters is that you could traverse through them, but i guess we need uber confirmation on this, as my knowledge seems to be a little outdated on what they want to leave in the game (such as when you build a t2 mex on a t1 mex, the t1 mex remains) for the moment.
I assume it's a glitch or something? You can also build radars on top of flat plateaus. It's a shame you can' t build anything else up there - you could make antiaircraft platforms impervious to ground units.
You could at some point in the past build everything on top of the plateaus - I assume this will return. Uber?
I hope so... Makes terrain worth while. I think that units should be able to shoot up there, but you could increase range slightly by placing them up there.
Not being able to place objects on terrain is a nuisance, but having the object wireframe stop at the cliff edge is even more annoying. Even if you couldn't place buildings in craters but it at least showed a red wireframe there, that would be preferable.
