I run it barely but without most any problem on 4g ram and 1g nvidia graphics.

So just check if you can get oh, 8g ram and try for just over 1g of graphic. Assuming everyone now runs at least a dual core.

Also check with the thread for turning off shaders and other framerate boosting player patches.

If you were to have trouble with that CPU and card, unless you have 4gb of RAM, it'd be because the dev's haven't built in support for such a new card. (obviously it could be other things, but hardware-wise, that's the most likely)

Don't buy reference GPUs, wait a bit for non-reference models and later revisions.
Chances to get defected GPU is much higher when GPU only released.

What SXX said.. That chipset should be awesome for the game, but i would wait until reviews pop up for a few more cards, so you can find one that's already been through the fire. Generally avoid reference cards is a good rule of thumb, unless it's a tried and true chipset that's been out for a while.

Well my 5850 died and I needed something before christmas. The 5850 was an AMD pcb and that lasted 5 years.

The R9 290 is a superb card based on the reviews I've read- however the AMD reference cooler isn't so great so I have to agree that waiting for a card with a non reference cooler might be worth it (have a look at the review for it on Toms- they moded it with a custom cooler from a 280X and it boosted the cards speed and reduced temp / noise quite considerably link: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/radeon-r9-290-review-benchmark,review-32818-19.html).

In terms of performance I don't think PA will need anywhere near as fast a card as that (I'm running it quite smoothly on a GTX560 which is about the same performance as your old card). If you wan't to go AMD the R9 280X would be the better bet at the moment as there are quite a few good custom versions around. One of the review sites did a price / performance comparison and the R9 280X and R9 290 are about equal on that basis.

Especially considering that AMD has recognized that original R9 290 reference cards manufactured in canada had a defect possibly leading to the graphic card dying. (They were not for sale, but for Tests purpose by reviewers). Now R9 290 cards manufactured in China should be ok.

... strongly hesitating between 770 4gigs and R9 290..... R9 290 is more powerfull, but requires a stronger power supply.

If you need something now, the gtx 770 is a great all around card.

Gtx 770 its a bad buy,
As far as the differences go, the 680 uses the GK104 GPU, and the 770 uses the newer GK106 GPU. While the GK106 is based on the GK104, Nvidia have made the GK106 much more efficient than its predecessor ok on this point not bad but. Hence the performance improvements. The major differences between the two are as follows:

The 680 comes with either 2gb or 4gb of VRAM, an the 770 comes with 3gb of VRAM.
The 680 has a memory speed of 6gbps, whereas the 770 memory speed is 7gbps
The 680 Memory bandwidth is 192.2gb/sec and the 770 bandwidth is 224.3gb/sec

The fps diference are to small ,to decide go and wast +300 euros on this card

Has far i can tell ,dont buy 770 wait and buy new amd cards or wait for gtx 780 get the price bether.

Actually, the 770 comes with either 2gb or 4gb of VRAM, the 780 comes with 3gb. However, since Nvidia just dropped the price on the 780, it's now a decent buy, depending on the card manufacturer, just keep in mind that it'll require a slightly bigger PSU, though 750w should (I'm not 100%, please look it up) work just fine. If you can, try to wait for the R9 290X to be released with custom coolers, it's definitely the way to go.

That's unfortunate. I don't really understand fanboyism... why not buy the best product, regardles

Um, ok...? The 770 is 100 dollars cheaper than the 680. It's a better card for less money.
