I plan on primarily play Planetary Annihilation in Solo mode - I don't see an option to PAUSE the game to look around and queue up orders or review your current situation - Total Annihilation had this - Spring Project i believe as well. Right now the game is pretty much click fest like most RTS games - you win by being able to handle alot of macroing of commands and multitasking quickly on the fly but it harder to setup queues of production or setup patrol or exploration pathing especially when battles start and you have to focus on that and not on production etc. Obviously that becomes more of an issue when you do multiplayer. I see some posts about being able to change your commander type but i don't see how to do that in the current build ?? I was curious if there was explaination somewhere of what the various commanders benefits/features will be. Is there a good tutorial on using the keyboard to do macros - putting units in groups - selecting all units of a particular type - like air (fighters) - construction units - maybe even factories. Is there a preliminary manual in progression ? I actually do read them What is HDR - people do love abbreviations but i don't know this one - FXAA i understand and antialiasing - do the higher texture features work yet - what does the increased video resolution do - while i don't want all the fancy stuff on my laptop - it would be nice to turn on everything on my desktop computer. Obviously some of this needs work - i had the screen stop responding when i was playing around the other day - had to reboot - couldn't return to windows or quit the game. I can see why people are complaining about the UI - Graphics relative to Spring Project and other games. Graphics do seem limited - bland looking although quasi-3D. Not sure how much is this is tweaking needing to be done or if the whole graphics engine needs update but I have concernes that people will expect a more polish prettier looking game when it is released. And I understand concerns that the game will not be ready in two months. Does look like alot work still needs to done. Having bought into Space Empires and see that flop due to mechanics issues - late game lag etc but was pushed ot publish before it was ready. While you can fix the game after you release it - you loose alot good will and public acclaim rushing a game out on a set schedule. You really have one chance to do it right - fixing it later will cost you long term sales. As an Engineer I don't like salesmen - schedules are nice for planning. Take the time to do it right the first time is almost always better than rushing it out to make a schedule to try to make the customer happy - then find out he actually expected perfection rather than haste. Game looks good concept wise but still see alot work needing to be done. Keep plugging at it
Pause is planned but isn't in yet. When you 'publish' the game click on the little commander portrait next to your name. They don't have differing stats or abilities(yet?). I don't know. Not that I know of. No idea. The game is in beta. The game is in beta. The game is in beta. Release date is possibly being pushed back but nothing confirmed yet.
There no difference and most likely won't be. What is your computer hardware? Most likely it's happen due to limited RAM, e.g if you have 4GB. If game can completely freeze your computer most likely it's not problem with game. Try to update all drivers for start.
Neutrino has commented on ways to differentiate(primarily abilities) but aside from him talking about it around the time when the Delta was revealed nothing has been mentioned since, most likely due to wanting to do work internally and figure it out before revealing it again due to the knee-jerk reaction it originally received. For those interested that have access to the Backer's Lounge I summarized the proposal here. Mike
Laptop is running an AMD A10-5175 with APU graphics - 8 Gigabytes RAM - Win 8.1 - 750 GB but 5400 RPM hard drive - running on 2.4 Gigahertz Wifi N band. Desktop is running I5-3570K running at 4.2 Gigahertz 16 Gigabytes RAM - Samsung 840 Pro boot drive - Steam is running on 2 Gigabytes WD Black hard drive - Asus GTX560Ti video - Win7 Pro - direct connect to Cisco Router and Cable Modem. So spec wise I should be fine to run the game
