Metal Planets and Metal Extractors bug?

Discussion in 'Support!' started by adeets, November 2, 2013.

?

Should we be able to build extractors anywhere on metal planets?

  1. we should be able to metal extractors anywhere on metal planets, it only makes sense.

    36.8%
  2. Leave it as it is, to build a Metal extractor you need a metal node, regardless of planet type.

Are we gonna be allowed to place metal extractors on any buildable surface of a metal planet to extract metal?

As it currently is you have to build metal extractors on metal nodes while on metal planets, coming from TA that is a major bug.

    Thoughts?

Yeah you closed a "bug" before it could be viewed by anyone of importance, thanks for that.

that thread you sent me to has people constantly bickering about a different sort, they just want extractors to be built everywhere, i'm just saying metal planets, which comes up on the last 2 pages of that post, but is over whelmed by the everywhere nature, also there are no official stances posted in there.

Neutrino's just points out the main reason its like that, but is willing to try other things.
I'd just like to get a solid answer on this, if metal planets can me mined everywhere then it will be a race to the metal planet, or domination over the metal planet, that to me is called balance.

I closed it because bugtracker is fo bugs and not for discussion about game mechanics because developers do not use community bugtracker for this purpose. ;)

I agree with you, but I'll prefer such mode as option and not default behavior.

Whoever wins the metal planet would win the game.

There would be no need for anything but the starter planet and the metal planet. Since going anywhere but the metal planet would be foolish and once the metal planet is won by a player that player will have eco enof to win the game without even trying.

So, no there isent realy a way to balance the metal planet "Build metal extractors everywhere" version in line with the rest of the planet types (atleast not one i can figure out).

Orbital rush>Infinite metal planet eco> orbital spam

    Not much room for strategy.

There are a thousand complex ways to balance this idea, even if fewer will actually work well. Don't just throw it in the trash without experimenting with a few ways.

One way to have it even is, for all player to start on a metal planet. The other planet can be any of the other planets. Just a thought, my two cents worth.

Same result. Win the metal planet win the game.

Why would you need to expand if the starter planet has near enof unlimited income?

And what point would fleeing to another world have? Even if you max out your new world the one with the metal planet would still have superior eco.

The idea is that metal planets have more metal on them than the other planets. It does need to be limited though, and this limitation is called balance. If you were given the choice to start on a metal planet, or any other planet, the obvious choice will always be the metal planet due to its insane economic value. There has to be a good enough reason to start on other planets.

I think one of the solution should be to change the skin of the metal node because it really makes no sense to have a raw metal node on a robot-made planet. But contrary to TA, the idea doesn't seem that appealing on PA to be able to pump out metal aeternam.

One thing though : we should be able to extract ALL metal nodes. Having those poorly placed metal nodes everywhere is quite frustrating.
