Hi Everyone, Saw this game on steam, looks pretty interesting but I've often found an exciting game turns out to be the same as some older game but with slightly improved graphics. So, sell it! Why is this game great and why should I be excited about it and buy it?
The community is AWESOME and the game is AWESOME, if you ever played Total Annihilation then this is most defiantly something you want to try. also your input and help makes the game more compatible with your system and other systems. and also you get to put useful ideas up that the Dev's read and may or may not implement based on how the community debates over it and if it's feasible to add to the game
also if you join and need any assistance the community cares and does it's best to assist you. i'm someone who will do his best to make sure the game works on your system and will offer many ways of getting the game going if you have compatibility issues
Also this may help you make your decision too watch many of ZaphodX cast's he's an AWESOME commentator and gives good details about new features and good info's on how to battle an improve play styles. http://www.youtube.com/user/ZaphodX1 link to his thread here on the forum https://forums.uberent.com/threads/zaphodxs-pa-videos-updated-daily.49710/
well, for one this game has more stuff coming adding to it, because it isn't an old game, if the other one is old i assume it has stopped getting updates, plus graphics are better in ways as well, the players and staff are absolutely awesome, i have so much more reasons but there you go, i guarantee that if you start playing this game you will love it, i went through a lot of trouble to play this game but it was worth it
This game has revolutionary features. The map you play on is a 3d sphere, not a flat 2d map. Also instead of being limited to a single field of play you can have multiple planets in one solor system that you are battling over. The game use client server architecture which means a lot less lag and dropping due to sync issues (Most RTS are still using Peer to peer). If you like TA or Supcom you would love this game, if not basically this game is a real time strategy game where you start with a commander build a base which includes factories which can produce units to fight with and units that can build new things. The game is part fighting and part economy building. You can play against an AI or against other players. You can play on the same team with more than one person against another team. When we say on the same team you actually have shared control over the same set of units. They are going to be releasing alliances where you can join and break them as well. The game is broken into what I call layers: land, bots, air, naval, and orbital. Land is vehicles, bots are like mechs, air flys over those, naval is ships on water, and orbital is in the orbit of the planet as well as the space in between planets. There is kind of another layer where you can actually move asteroids and small moons with huge engines and crash them into other planets as well. There is a factory and associated units for each of those layers broken into basic and advanced sets. For example, your commander builds a vehicle factory which can produce a vech construction unit, as well as a anti air vech, scout vech, and light tank. The vech construction unit (which we call fabbers which is short for fabrication unit) can then build more base defense structures as well as the adv. vech factory. Once you have the adv. factory you can produce adv vech fabbers, as well as more advanced vechs like artillery, heavy tanks etc. The new adv vech fab can build new structures as well as the structures the basic vech fabber could build. The economy takes the form of metal and energy. You build metal extractors on metal spots to get metal. You build energy planets to get energy. You can build energy any where but metal extractors are only buildable on metal spots. There are basic and adv versions of these structures as well. The resources come in as flow based and can be stock piled in storages as well. The game play is amazing. Right now there is a system editor and planet editor so that you can build your own map to play on. Every system is procedurally generated so you don't ever have to play the same map twice. There are biomes for the planets we have Earth, tropical, ice, lava, metal, and soon gas.
So apart from all the great gameplay ideas that are beginning to take form you also have to consider that PA is developed by a pretty independent company. So they can easily push patches when they see fit. No Publisher will ever get between you and the developers. They might even answer your questions here in the forums.
