Good point this may solve some issues that some people have For me though i found a massive bug when installing and uninstalling some of their softwares, (As showed in thread Where trying to do some testing too see which program was affecting PA ended up causing me to re-install win 8 on my tablet pc) I think also at my end the issue was hardware incompatibility/instability from using a video card driver not meant for this system. (i did this to play PA, the driver released by acer is 1 year old, and no drvier from intels site is compatible)
It's not possible, there is no "driver not meant for this system". Nobody can modify Intel HD because it's built into CPU. So there is no "wrong drivers", but some crappy computer manufacturers don't let you install generic drivers directly.
maybe there something extra in newer package made by acer for comparibility, my sleep mode malfunction with newer driver. everything else seems to function perfect.
maybe i should submit a support ticket to acer asking if there is reason for this models driver not being updated. and i will ask why when i install driver from the 701 model which stated to have same hardware specs fails to resume from sleep. I'm very curious to see what acer responce is, it puzzling me, in theory the onboard video is the same so there should be no issue. im guessing there may be hardware changes to something in the GPU chipset or another chipset that interact with the GPU chipset.
It's might be only broken because Acer crippled driver or Windows distribution. They can't modify GPU because it's inside of silicon chip. Also how did you re-install your Windows? Is it was clean reinstall from official Microsoft distribution or "system restore" from reserved place? If you just use some Windows distribution which stored on your HDD most likely it's crippled by the same way as your old system.
yes i used the out of box button to restore, so it used its internal (corrupted os, well not corrupted just full of bloat ware and unneeded software's). To install a fresh clean OS from iso or disk i need to format a usb stick to be compatible with the uefi boot system. or i need to source a usb dvd-rom (dvd rom cheap enough i maybe buy one tomorrow for $30-$50Aus). both those options easy enough to do, im just lazy
Then you need to try clean Windows reinstall. Most likely you'll get ability to use newer drivers and everything will work fine. I'm not fan of Microsoft, but their OSes are pretty solid and laptop manufacturer need do lot of "work" ( ) to even break hibernation. And I really doubt what should be done to break sleep in Windows.
OMG is my GPU embedded in the same die as the CPU ?? or they separate chips linked by bridge. i need to open it up and look maybe (not really what i want to do , but im curious to see how much effort i need put in to swap ssd for new one) Also im glad it not an Atom chip .. hahahahahaha. intel atom are the worst thing ever. (great for low power or business)
sad days. no wonder when CPU get hot from rendering a raytraced animation (this all cpu based) i play game and it run very badly. When system cool down a bit FPS go back up.
