AWESOME, i for one would love a doco on this alone, i love classical music an i think the amount of skill each individual musician has in an orchestra is just mind-blowing amazing.

So wait, the whole Orchestra wasn't all recorded together? I guess Howard wants to mix them all in himself. Probably will be easier once he gets everything back to his own lab. I wonder how many gigs of audio he'll record throughout the whole process?

i think recording this way is the best option.
Many bands record in this manner, one musician at a time, then the whole lot is mastered together to make sure all the instruments are at the correct volume.
this saves 1 instrument accidently overriding/overpowering another in volume during recording.
Giving a very clean professional sound to the end track

    --edited--

also i think this is good if there are any slip up's too.
if someone accidently messes a section of music up its much easier to re-record.
the whole orchestra/band doesn't need to re-record just the 1 instrument.

Well another day of recording and more awesome ****. I took off after 10pm but they are planning to record until 11:30pm tonight. Tomorrow is the last scheduled day although we've been talking about adding a day for pickups on percussion. The guys doing the recording are ultimate pros and so far it sounds fantastic. The final mixdown will take a while as there are going to be over 1000 takes to dig through and mix.

What? It's not like it's difficult. For goodness' sake Uber stop taking so long to do stuff that should have been done ages ago. Making games isn't hard!

Just a random music related question; apart from Howard can anyone else play music in the office? Are you secretly some kind of king of metal on guitar yourself? ;)

Heh, Howard's office is as far away as it can possibly be. :p

I never hear music in "The Pit" - everyone wears headphones. But every now and then I can hear someone humming the Toy Rush song :D

We wrapped strings and brass today! Writing this from the booth while listening to the final choir session. Tomorrow we are indeed doing a perc pickup session. Overall I think this soundtrack is going to win some awards. Howard is a genius and we have amazing players and engineering on the recording including a couple of Grammy winners.

Oh and many of the players and other guys recorded the TA soundtrack ...
