What do you guys think Galactic warfare is going to be? I'm thinking of some kind of huge multiplayer, where you can log in and log off, but the time that you stay offline your planets can be conquered...
I know this feels surreal, but maybe it's going like this ;)

Anyways, tell us what your idea of huge scale warfare is!

... but instead of nations we will have solar systems and instead of horses fusion powered robots.

as long as i can play offline/with my friends, im happy... : p

i imagine the galactic conquest part to look like the "pseudo" "turn-based" visual part of the star wars empire at war series. but instead of a single planet, you see stars, and if you zoom in (please... fluid/strategic zoom !) you can see the planets, where you can then decide which one to attack first, ... like you have to decide where the allready in place defensives are weak... go ahead and try to break the primary base on that heavily fortified planet without any reinforcements from inside the solar systems other planets... which you should have taken first !

    : D
    ahhh one can dream ...

I actually imagine Galactic Conquest will work a lot like Sins of a Solar Empire. You get planets to start on and then you kind of expand across the universe, conquering/losing planets as you go until someone wins.

But Sins is real time, GW would essentially be turn based, with each turn being a battle within a system.

Have they said GW will be turn based or is it going to be real time?

Turn based. All GW is in the end is a Meta-Game, the individual battles still happen within a single system like any other PA match.

In another view, GW might be described as part tournament, part Risk. Either way, I'm definitely excited to see how it pans out.

If it was a thing were stuff still happened if you weren't on, it wouldn't really be Fun. But if it was a Massively Multiplayer thing were you were on a different faction, and there was 500 people on each second, I can see that work out...
Anyways, It could just be like a regular match with a higher people max.
If it were turn-based it wouldn't be RTS.

can I have a token to also say "all over the forums" ?

I'd like a link, and something by an Uber dev please.

Nanolathe and Knight both very well know what Metagame means. I dunno any specific posts, you'll have to search for yourself.

    That's not good enough.

    1) The search function is pretty crap on the forums.

    2) If you aren't able to find the quote from the developer and link it, then it's just supposition by the forum community.

    3) It's not made explicit in the Galactic War announcement video. In fact, the Galactic War announcement video uses the terminology "in skirmish, you annihilate planets. In the GW, you annihilate galaxies", which sounds a lot more like control is persistent, and you use your planets, moons and asteroids as interstellar missiles to capture systems, rather than fighting the same skirmish on a different planet again and again until victory.

Sure it's good enough, I use it all the time to find stuff, it's not like I've bookmarked every relevant Dev post ever made. If you won't take my word on it(and I've got the most comprehensive knowledge on this stuff to be honest) then put in the foot work yourself.

    Here's some tips;

-Don't give up after a single search, try different settings, use synonyms, check thread titles for relevant threads, try different Devs.
-Use the various compilation threads, the Confirmed Features List, Topic Index and Live Stream Index are great places to check.

Everything is out there, just gotta find it.

It's not good enough advice, not that the search function isn't functional.

I personally don't have time to trawl through posts looking for information which may not exist. If the forum is unable to provide a post, as no-one can remember where they saw the information, and only you are advocating for it, that doesn't look very good.

I won't take your word on it precisely because I have to find the information, with no guarantee whether it exists or not. If you refer to it, source it.

What's the saying? Burden of proof falls upon something-something? I don't remember the rest of it.

Anyone expecting parallels to Zero-K's Planetwars?
