Actually it has afaik been confirmed that replays and savegames will be pretty much the same thing. So you can load a replay and start playing it from any point in time. Dunno how it will handle multiple player games. In the best solution I can imagine you could select whose player spot to take. So you could i.e. switch sides when analyzing a replay. Would be very helpful for competitive purposes. Ever wanted to jump right into point X of the game between some good players and see if you can do better? Do it
Quote myself: "It will be embedded into the replay functionality, it already works just not turned on in our clients apparently. You choose one of your old replays, use the chronocam and play on from where ever you want, thats my understanding of it." As for not having much choice, theres plenty for an early access beta. Naval, Air, Ground, Nukes, Launching moons and small planets, Orbital and much more to come, apparently.
By not much choice, I mean you basically have 3 choices (4 if there is naval) Land Army (The land units right now are very generic and limited so just saying "land army" is enough since almost all land armies have no difference) Nukes Defense Push (using artillery/missiles/orbital lasers) There is almost no way to surprise the enemy, or do something unexpected, your only choice is to simply out micro and out macro them using the same exact units. Strategy doesn't play that big of a part.
Wait until you feel there is enough choice or strategy for yourself then? Why would you buy into an unfinished game and then complain its unfinished..?
I simply stated the reason I am not playing right now. If this causes you great grief and makes you incoherently post on the forums uselessly, then I'm sorry.
Okay.. Pretty sure you will have an answer for anything. Great grief. Whatever man, was trying to help then you started moaning about no strategy and there being only 3 ways to win... Get used to beta.
I never got a crash but game become unplayble ,and bit boring just with so few units and builds. Not talk the always black screen ,and have to wait 3 min to start play its really ........ My gtx 780 classified and my I4 dont like . So i will try again when PA boarn again, with new stuffs.
Just so you guys who didn't know do now... I am sure Uber knows how to make a game. There is a cycle of adding new features, then fixing any bugs in the engine for supporting them, then adding new ones. What will be exciting is, when the bugs are iron'd out, they can do more "plugging in new things" into the already working features. Which means tons of diversified units hopefully, torwards the end when they can simply go back and plug tons of damage and speed and cost and other values into units to make more units that you have to send in to attack a certain way for their advantages or make your armies out of these multiple units in different proportions. Right now, this game is what it is, varying degrees of engine testing with base units.
I'm pretty sure Uber is monitoring the playing stats. I'm pretty sure they know the crash rate. I'm also sure they are waaaay more worried about this than you guys are Be calm. It'll get fixed soon I think?
I'd love to provide some feedback as to how playable the game is, but I can't even get the start selection screen to load (no matter what I do -- even disabling all planet settings) on OSX 10.8.5/2012 15" Retina MBP that is otherwise up to date on patches and drivers. I haven't seen any tips on how to get this running in any of the uber forums, but if someone's got a way, I'd love to play it. I had wanted to hold off on playing until the game was a little more finished, and I was surprised that it was completely nonfunctional at this late in the, er, game.
It happens. Uber will tell you. Less stable is a lamens term. It is no less stable, it is as stable as it was last update. The appearance of less stability, is due to new features. The same old stability is there, but you don't see that because new things added is what crashes a game, and that alone is all you see, is the crash. You don't see why it crashed, or that the crash you see is not one of the many crashes they have fixed completely and you will never see again.
But that's weird since for me, the game has never been so smooth and crash free. Stability seems to be an awefully selective thing. best you can do is inform Uber the best you can.
Same for me. I just get a black screen with the UI 99% of the time when I get in to a game now :/ If I do manage to get it to work, the frame rate is awful no matter what settings I use. I'm running an I7, 670gtx, 16gb ram and an SSD.
Ok iff you guys still dont now ,when you on lobby off host game, on the top right ,where its the planet there is a small red light ,just wait until stay green and all ok. Game will lunch without wait, and without black screen ,i just dont get wy uber never tell that.
I think Uber pushed out some patches to get the build relatively stable for 'most' people when beta came out, but they have been silent for quite a while, so i imagine a huge patch is incoming to fix some stuff.
That's what I'm thinking. There's probably a huge patch coming out next week. I'm guessing a huge update to Orbital and a bunch of client side and server side stability improvements.
