Ok, I know that thoroughly reading through the forum will be massively helpful, but I'm starting my own thread so that I have any help that you guys can give in one place and not scattered over too many other threads. So. I bought PA earlier today and have sat down to play a game against the ai just so I can work out where all the buttons are and not have the mad panic that the other person is running rampant while I'm testing buttons (assuming the ai is a little slower at getting going of course), but whenever I try and set up a game I get a message saying that PA is no longer working and needs to close (this was at the screen where you select your commander and colour after publishing the game). If I get through that lobby screen before that crash, I load up the screen but my starting planet doesn't load and I get an error message saying that "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way" and basically to contact support for further information. << Maybe I should have read that fully before coming to forums Anyway is there a solution to this problem? I'm assuming that this will also mean I can't do any multiplayer games because the same crash/ error message will appear. Please keep your answers simple and not use too much fancy computer language because I'm not computer savvy in the slightest and will probably ask you to repeat yourself if I don't understand, and thanks to anyone who can help. Also, The music is very, very good
you should have posted this in the beta part, not general disscussion, anyways. boot with only one screen, reduce running aplications to a minimum, install new graphic card driver. Upload a Dxdiag.txt to your next reply so I can help you further. to do this hit ÿ then "dxdiag", ↩ let the program run, allow the progress bar to finish hit "Save All Information..." upload it as a .txt attachment. DON'T paste it about the music, I agree and Howard will be pleased. the musics already getting a lot of love even though it's not yet the orchestral recording.
I did get an awkward feeling that this thread was in the wrong place, my bad. Ok, I think I've done this right and I've attached the information as you said (think being the key word here)
https://forums.uberent.com/threads/how-to-improve-frame-rates-all-video-cards-ati-fix-windows.53165/ Try everything in that thread, and try to install those drivers , Or at least go to ATI site and try to update to current ones.
no worries it was just moved anyways, the thing is admins have enough work with me alone. you're skimming it on RAM and this geforce motherboard, amd cpu, 32bit OS thing is whaaaaaaaa? are you a student? (this is because you could get win 7 64bit free) http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd_catalyst_13.11_betav1.exe this is your baby try it out before you do open this little fellar and check that you see .NET 4 Framework in the list. if you don't download it (from microsoft!) and install it. Max don't tell him to get his own drivers mellarkeonovakura : drivers don't update. PS: (this little fellar isn't a link, it's "unistall a program", so you check the list of programs installed on your PC)

I am a student, but the computer that I have is a few years old. I've being toying with the idea of getting better bits and bobs but what I have seems to work... kind of. I think it's starting to die on me at the moment. We shall see though
a O.S. reistall is really at hand. you'll relish how speddy a fresh O.S. runs. on that note, do you play any other games? because ubuntu would definately up your performance.
i have a sticky thread to solve most of these issues, it has link to beta ATI driver there already. but i want a link to an up to date nVidia driver for people too. https://forums.uberent.com/threads/how-to-improve-frame-rates-all-video-cards-ati-fix-windows.53165/
I play a but of supcom but I'm awful at it. PA is a fresh start at rts for me, as soon as I saw the game was being planned I thought this was a must by... then took a while to actually buying it. I play Rome 2 a bit and civ5 a bit, again I'm not that good at either of them but they are fun all the same. But you're gonna have to tell me what this O.S. reinstall is because I have no idea
if your downloaded driver fails to install for your video card, there is a program to force new ATI drivers to install on older cards. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php it patches drivers automatically an forces them to install. Downside is , your laptop may have issues with non standard drivers or ones not made specifically for that model . i have this issue with my LG laptop , it has ATI card too i have a new driver that is not meant for it , it works good, games play, but it occasionally crash when i put it to sleep.
