Do you lock your poles?

I'm curious since the spherical maps and the camera control issues that come with this mark a big change from your standard/rectangular RTS square map.

Currently I play with a free camera just because I think it makes navigating a little easier when you want to go over the top or bottom of the planet. It can be disorientating though.

free cam + 2 saved camera spots (my base and the enemy base) work okay for me

I started using locked Poles, makes everything faster for me to find + saved camera spots, soo useful!

Locked. But it needs some work to be actually comfortable. And it would be a lot better if there was a key combination to change it on and off.

I don't use pole lock. I used to, but it always makes things tricky when there is fighting or a base around one of the poles.

Requires a little extra thinking to keep my bearings, but all in all, I believe it works out better.

I need to start using saved camera locations though.

I find locked far more comfortable (consistency, as already mentioned above), but it does limit things somewhat.

Hold n to temporarily enable pole lock when using freecam

I have yet to master the saved cam positions.

I started with the polls unlocked.... I would get messed up when I started moving around the map like crazy. I use la pole lock now.

IMO this is a must if you are going to battle between planets. You can camera jump between planets instantly.

At the start I always, Shift 1 my base, Shift 2 the 2nd planet, shift 3 the third, etc. Game starts while I am in this process, alt 1 and bam I'm good to go.

Orbital invasions being almost impossible is pretty annoying .

Very much so. Main reason why I don't play with it – yet.

Really looking forward to starting on different planets and trying to invade other planets.

Why should south be up? Which side up is completely arbitrary.

Poll lock for the win, but why should north be up? Magnets fall north.

(also Maori word for south is the same as the word for up, above, over, upwards)

North should be up because that's the convention.

Free camera all day long! But I use N when my friend and I want to sync up to look at the same thing.
