My orbital lasers, once created, just chill out in orbit. They move from position to position, but they don't attack anything or fire. (It's currently chilling out above the enemy unit concentration within the enemy base)

My energy production is incredibly high, as is my stored energy?

As far as I know, the only fault with orbital lasers is that they don't move very fast. It may also be that they don't auto-attack. Try targeting something.

They do normally take a while to line up and charge their shots. Also make sure you're firing at stationary targets.

Ok dokey... I'll give it another go attacking the enemy base.

They definitely do work in the Beta though?

Just like any other unit. Click on it, click on what you want to destroy. However, keep in mind they are very slow and tend to miss moving targets. They're only really effective against buildings, though they are very good at taking out buildings.

Yeah ... The issue has been that when I do that, they don't do anything. They move near it, but there isn't an animation, and the target doesn't take damage.

I've had the same thing. I've seen others use them against me, but I targeted an enemy building 10 times using different methods of attack (right click, select attack function then building, etc) and no luck...

Like I said, they're slow. I don't see animations either – so that may be beta.

When they do fire, they deal a heck of a lot of damage.

Just remember, they move very slowly, shoot very slowly, and miss moving targets.

    *shrugs*

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure you need to have vision/radar of your target for the laser to fire, you cannot attack the ghost of a building you have previously scouted. Personally I think this is stupid, it should be perfectly fine for the laser to shoot into fog at a location that was previously known to have a structure on it.

I had a radar satellite and was clicking on the building's radar dot; the cursor changed to the red x when hovering on it. It wasn't just slow, it wasn't firing. It rotated, generally hung around but despite waiting >10 mins after the attack action (with the satellite already above the target when I requested the attack) it did not work.

I've had good success sniping commanders :) or taking our anti nukes just before I launch a tyrant of nukes their way.

Definitely need adv satellite to make this work.

Hitting moving targets is neigh impossible. they dont lead targets well and arrive at their previous location before moving again.. quite annoying.. but that's beta :)

Nor do they auto target avengers? mine keep getting smashed while i'm not watching.

You can shoot at targets you have scouted but do not have radar coverage of.

I'm more interested in how to get an umbrella to work.
My opponent builds one, my satellites get shot out of the sky.

I build one, They wobble back and forth a bit... and probably eventually die.

What am I missing? I've tried leaving it, I've tried manually targetting it.
It's either 50/50 as to whether it works for me ATM, so i just use Spess police to take the offending death satellites out.

Umbrellas function just like any other defense tower. They shoot whatever is above it – provided they have vision. Keep in mind though, they are terrible at shooting down Avengers (Orbital Fighters). The only way they can hit an Avenger is if it is sitting still.

Honestly, Avengers are better at protecting the orbital layer than Umbrellas are.

    lol

Umbrellas aren't supposed to be able to hit orbital fighters – Uber has said as much. They're supposed to hit satellites, particularly the laser one.

    Sheesh. That sucks.

I've never used the Umbrella, I'm just talking about how it's supposed to function.

They made improvements to is, so they know it's broken, I imagine they'll make more improvements to it.
