Hello, maybe lava planets should have a trait unique to them. Like letting only special units be able to "swim" in or walk on or hover over lava. And/or making buildings on lava more expensive due to the need of special armor plating. What are your opinions on that? Greetings
I like the idea of there being something unique about lava planets. We don't really know what Uber is going to do with lava. There's been talk about moving terrain, but that would likely make for too many development challenges for the current timeframe and budget. There's also talk of allowing boats to use lava like water. We don't really know. Even so, I currently love lava planets. The hill/volcano terrain features make for some amazing choke points and lots of outstanding strategies. Currently they're my favorite planet.
Woah, had to go through ~20 odd captcha's before I found one that was legible! Anyway, lava planets... Metal melts at those temperatures... Units and buildings (and commanders!?) all have life spans on these worlds!
I thought the idea of lava planets was to make lava totally impassable terrain. That's the central idea.
Yep I agree 100%. They're rocky enough to create lots of sneaky routes and chokes but open enough in other places for huge engagements. Not like the mountain biomes where aircraft are practically mandatory or plains with no obstacles whatsoever.
I think you shouldn't be able to build or sent land units over lava. Maybe only hover tanks. Seeing buildings and units on top of the lava is a big disappointment for me.
So no one else has that problem? For me the whole damn lava planet is covered in lava. No land texture. ._.
I like the idea of making different types of planets unique in some way, other than textures. I think Uber already said something like that there will be special units just for gas giants. So special units just for lava planets don't seem that far fetched, imo.
dont like how lava meshes with the edges of the terrain... lava shouldn't have similar mechanics as water.... the lava should be lower then the terrain in my opinion... currently there my worst type of planet, the performance is absolutely dire!! on lava planets compared to everything else, almost the entire planet gets covered with lava no matter what level you set the water height at unless u hav no water at all... Lava planets need to look and be exactly how the concept art is... at the moment it just looks completely weird, way too flat and no depth what so ever.......... edit: I know its at very early stages right now.. but still... thought I'd mention my thoughts in this thread though.
The game is in beta! We all but know things will change. Don't be disappointed, just understand that the game isn't completed. This is a common bug that most people have. Uber is working on fixing that and that bug is popping up less and less. I believe right now it only consistently shows up on computers with less power. I believe gas giants will be orbital units only. No way to land on it or build factories and whatnot. Just send orbital units there. However, gas giants will provide lots of resources, so they'll be critical to control. As I said earlier. Beta! The lava covering the whole planet is a known bug that is being worked on. It's already showing up less and less.
I think that lava planets should have a strategic value added to them, that other planets have not. And so should other types of planets. Considering what galactic-war multiplayer will be like, it would be nice having a reason to conquer different kinds of planets, because they give you a specific bonus of some kind. For example there could be a building that can only be built on lava, a forge that uses the heat of the lava to manufacture unique orbital units, that you usually weren't able to build. There could be a deep-sea power plant for tropical planets. A "very-advanced" (T3) metal extractor for metal planets. And so on. It would really change the dynamic of the game, and make it a bit harder to decide which planet to conquer next. It would also mean that you'd be more enthusiastic about how you design your systems. Greetings
I think they plan on doing this but no idea to what degree though I think it was mentioned in one of the live streams about the metal extractor advantages on a metal planet that they had planed but thats all I can remember for now. There should definitely be different characteristic advantages for the different types of planets no idea what lava planets could specifically bring that others do not though, extra HP to buildings because of the structure integrity increase needed to build on a volatile planet? Unable to get an accurate interplanetary nuke to land on a lava planet because of how the volcanic plates and the magnetic fields interfere with targeting systems or something......
I think it should be something that benefits you on a greater scale. Like better metal extractors on metal planets help you even when you're fighting on other planets, lava planets should do too. The forge I was mentioning before was just one example. You could make it so that the orbital units needed to extract ressources on gas giants could be cheaper to produce on lava-planets than anywhere else. Thus you'd create a dynamic between those two types of planets. Maybe other people have ideas on this, too?
its a very good idea, there is a lot of idea's you could run away with on this hopefully there is something, it doesn't bother me in a big way if they dont really give out any special properties, but I love this idea and hope they do something on this.
Although I don't like the idea of wind/solar generators it would be cool if lava planets could have geothermal power generators that make lava planets a good strategic source of power income.
