I like using Air fabbers as I can use 3-4 times more when constructing buildings or units, at that point energy doesn't become an issue since I have so many constructing the facility goes up faster, plus they NEVER get stuck and I don't have to spend time moving units around to make sure they don't end up lost... like every single game I use non air fabbers I'm always fighting to make them do what I want them to do.
Yes, you are right with the pathing. Even its getting better and better. But you wrong about "energy doesn´t become an issue". Against a good player you will notice at least in mid-game, that you are about falling behind in production, if you use only air. In the most cases your army will be smaller than the one of your enemy, simply because he is building with higher efficency, lets say, the last 15 minutes.
SO I have recently noticed, I'm going to try one more match tonight and if it's AI nuke fest, then I'm asking for a game refund, besides the game will be cheaper when it's worth it to actually play longer then a few minutes.
Only if you never scout, expand or even play the game at all will the AI actually get to use nukes. Use a air factory or two dedicated to building air scouts and turn the planet and your base into a hive, using these little raiders to harass you opponent and see his stuff, making sure you can expand to where you want. Add fighters into the mix soon so your air fleet can fight back enemy fighters who will if given the chance use even a single fighter to wipe out all of your scouts. Once you have air supremacy/protection then you can safely and reliably expand all across a planet and build up a force of bombers or tanks to win the game. Have fun!
What 'whole nuke thing'? if you are losing against players who do nothing but build nukes, why dont you just build an army? 20 bot factories are pretty damn easy to get.
I think the problem here is that many people are not very good at the fundamental basics of the RTS genre like proper scouting, map control and knowing when to and not to commit to an attack. That and knowing how the scale of this RTS is particular is best played with large factory macro (Hopefully looping factory ques will be in soon) rather then with a more defensive posture that is more difficult to set up over a large area.
So that match against the AI I played... never used nukes... only stuck to air... so I guess I don't get to quit after all... I wonder if uber was watching.
