    Beta Build: 55493
    • A number of server and client crash fixes, including a number of ATI specific and Mac ATI specific issues.
    • Allow for water start spots
    • All basic factories can now be built by advanced fabbers
    Beta Build: 55430
    • Support for HDR, FSAA and resolution scaling. These are disabled by default. Turn them on if you wish to play with them!
    • New Raptor Commander is now player selectable!
    • New Unit: Orbital and Deepspace Radar - This unit is required to gain information about units in orbit or travelling in deep space
    • Quite a few client and server crash fixes.
    • Landing zone size fixed for real this time.
    • There is a new tutorial video off the main menu now. This is WIP, and will be replaced/enhanced with a selection of tutorial videos/community how-to guides going into the future.
    • Units should push more naturally out of an area that you're building in, without you having to manually move them.
    • Orbit visualizations now exist in the celestial view.
    • Another host of pathing updates, changes and fixes.
    • Energy and metal can once again be built along the shorline
    • AI continues to get smarter and more dangerous.
    • AI may now nuke you. You've been warned!
    • Balance Changes
      • Battleship: HP increased, ROF increased very slightly, lifetime of the projectiles increased
      • Orbital Fighter: More expensive, bit slower - This unit was supposed to have different move dynamics than an airplane; Also can now be targeted by ion defense and actually hit
      • Delta V Engine build cost dropped by roughly a third
      • Ion Defense build cost reduced, more inline with intended cost
      • Tactical Missile projectile max lifetime reduced by 75% because too long!
      • Ammo lifetime increased for pelter and explicit target layers created for Holkins

I just started the game after the new update and Coherent UI crashed after closing out the "Beta" YouTube video. This didn't happen in the last version.

i feel that the battleships needs to get a bit more range too..simple and advanced units seem to have the same firing range

Am I the only one that is getting a totally black screen except for a few UI elements and metal spot markers? The planet loads, the music starts, and I can hear the right sounds when I click the planet but everything is pitch black.

EDIT: It only happens with FXAA on.

I get this also.. Updating my drivers now, we'll see if it resolves this.

EDIT: Nope, didn't fix it, somethin up with FXAA.

For me that happens even with FXAA off.
I also tried switching HDR on/off and playing with the resolution scaling option in every direction.

edit: sorry, just took a long while to get out of that black screen with FXAA off
edit2: great update btw. I love HDR :)

You aren't the only one and it isn't affected by fxaa settings. Try hammering f5 repeatedly.

What OS are you using? And what exactly happened when Coherent crashed? There was a minor version update for coherent (1.5.2->1.5.3) that should fix the upside down steam messages.

I've tested it on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, I can test it on Windows 8 64-bit in a little bit with a similar hardware configuration. The issue does not repeat itself when I click on the Beta symbol in the main menu, so maybe it was just a fluke.

Is that a place holder for a deep space orbital radar i see in the build menu?

    What does resolution scaling do?

PA won't use traditional fullscree, so scaling should resolution select options.

HDR looks awesome in some situations, but in others it is just ...
a bright sun indeed. Sure probably it is pretty realistic, but it doesn't really help. Ignoring the sun for the calculations will probably be necessary. Otherwise you are basically simulating how a bright sun would blind the human eye in this scenario. I don't think you want to do that ;)

Also when I enable FXAA it turns out like this:
but I didnt update the drivers of my Radeon HD 7850 since the beginning of the alpha when I streamed and had graphical glitches.
Gonna try it tomorrow, no time now.

    EDIT:
Also the resolution scaling is AWESOME. Do I understand correctly that it basically applies downsampling when set to 3?
