They actually had a livecast with the top questions/comments from Reddit a while back. Neutrino is a fan of Reddit.

    Ahhhh, totally slipped my mind!

    I remember now,
I think those were better questions?

Sorry if this has been asked before but will there be a pre-emptive building mode, ex. 10 minutes to build before you can move outside of your base?

    If you were going to do that, you'd need a vetting pass by Uber. If you didn't, then you'd get the same five questions every week;
    1. Experimentals,
    2. Upgrades,
    3. Space Battles,
    4. Underground Units,
    5. Multiple Galaxies.

Also, I don't recognise you anymore, @Culverin. Not used to the new profile picture.

    1. No.
    2. No.
    3. No. (Maybe paid expansion)
    4. No.
    5. No. (We're not even at a single star cluster yet, let alone a galaxy, let alone multiple galaxies).

And yes, of course, Uber would get veto powers.
I don't remember, but were the reddit questions that bad?

Was a decent cast to see you guys, but we need Uber, to answers to at least some of the fundamental questions that we put.
I think that this is the purpose of LiveCast, the last cast with the Mayor was very good at this point.
I think we are beta players for some reason.

I think the purpose of the livestreams is to give feedback to the backers of the game, as a gesture of gratitude. We gave them, what, 2.2 million dollars or something? And they're giving us sneak previews of the game's forthcoming development and regular updates as a way of giving back to us.

They are not obliged to answer each and every question that we ask them; they haven't got the time!

I can see PA is becoming the perfect sequel to TA and has so many features that are the anti pattern of a modern 21st century RTS (RE: single faction, procedural map generation and campaigns-are-waste-of-dev-time).

However please don't do another stream unless you can actually show a planet smashing into another planet with an adequate BOOM and associated fireworks. A server crash is not good enough ;-D

Anyone else think Brad looks pretty hawt on the livestreams?
    Just sayin'

Seeing as that happened in the last like, 7 minutes, and it's done live, I don't think they can plan for that xD

It happened last stream too. Its a major feature if not THE major feature of the BETA. After 2 Beta Streams where is crashes it makes it look like the major BETA feature is still no where near done.

I'm sorry, I thought the major feature of the beta was to be a beta.

I actually believe PA works way better on Linux than on Windows. I've yet to see a single crash here, seriously! It doesn't work flawlessly, there are graphical glitches with terrain reloading, pathing issues and so on but I've smashed planets several times with fireworks etc. And it hasn't crashed for me not even once.

I backed at the early-bird, release-only, no-alpha, no-beta level so I haven't played it yet, and this was the first time I watched a game all the way through. A shame about the bug at the end, but overall: wow. Getting a real TA feel from it. The atmosphere when you landed on the asteroid was amazing (partly due to the lovely planet textures, partly due to the ludic tension of realising A) the asteroid was safe and clear and therefore B) you could smash it into the enemy moon and win. (btw please don't overdo the HDR on planet collisions, I know you need to cover up the point of impact so it doesn't look ugly, but bloom all over the screen making all the lovely art assets invisible is soooo 2005. Maybe a lenseflare or glitch effect (like the gore censor in Kane And Lynch 2, which was the one decent part about that awful game) is more appropriate than HDR. You could use glitch effects for commander deaths too, to emphasise that they are intelligent AI dying).

The raptor commander walk animation is pretty sweet, and I can't wait to see all the other little animations (missile ship doors, landing plumes, Halley flaps etc) environmental stuff (trees burning, oceans with ship trails and submerged submarines) and weapon effects (lasers, cannon rounds, bombs etc) in action too, especially running natively on my PC and not in youtube gravel-vision super low definition 100% compression artifacts.

Incidentally it seems like the grass terrain needs more brushes besides just trees? Little interesting hills and rocks, like TA had.

so glad to hear this. I'm a fan of ubuntu, I'm considering either making a hackintosh or switching back to ubuntu for the Release, I've been on windows 8. I can't make up my mind the debate is: mac has best leapmotion software compared to windows but mac might not tolerate all my hardware.

Well, you may at least start with Ubuntu, it's free and you don't have to break the law using it ;] You can also install it to the dualboot or even to wubi environment on the windows partition. Then if you don't like anything there you can always remove it and install hackintosh. Though I heard it's very queasy and it's nowhere near as easy to install and have everything working as Windows or GNU/Linux.

Don't want to go off topic here but have you read Apple's EULA? I doubt they allow installing their OS on anything except their own hardware. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20130418125538AAX4CE9 | http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/OSX108.pdf
So before becoming a criminal try Ubuntu for your daily tasks. For real.
