Hello, When I start a game, I cannot see anything due to everything being very dark. I cannot see any models either. DxDiag is attached.
It's caused by outdated drivers: Code: Card name: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 Driver Date/Size: 9/20/2010 01:20:12, 37376 bytes You need to install generic drivers from AMD website: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx First try to download and run "AMD Mobility Radeon™ Driver Verification Tool". If it's give you drivers to install just use them. If it's say that your hardware isn't compatible you need do that: Backup important information from laptop. Usually generic drivers don't cause any problems, but I'm recommend back backups anyway. Download and install "Latest Beta Driver" from same page. If any error occur in process of installation then try to remove old version of Catalyst and run installer again.
Yep there is something weird happen with generic driver. Can you try to remove Catalyst (though Windows Control Panel) and install "Latest Beta Driver" again?
The game is no longer, black, it's just broken textures everywhere. Also, the models are still not appearing. Here is the latest DxDiag.
It's looks like you installed old drivers instead of generic one. PS: Latest generic drivers are required and you need find way to get them work.
Generic drivers mean it's from card manufacturer == AMD. Actually i'm find this topic http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebo...D-for-ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5650/td-p/994613 There is few people (check page 19) with problem like you have. PS: I really want to help you, but I can't give you exact solution for your problem. Game won't work with drivers from 2010 and you need to find way to install new (at least from 2013) drivers. My current idea is: remove installed driver though control panel, only then try to install generic drivers again and check if it's works.
I have tried everything. New drivers, old drivers, the lot. Nothing has worked. No game has ever been like this. I'm pretty disappointed. Enjoy the $60 I guess..
You can try to get some help on specialized forums about mobile drivers like this: http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?f=46 Unfortunately new games are require new technologies which don't supported in old drivers.
If you want to fix your problem you can do that, if not then I won't argue with you about that. Unfortunately it's not in my power to remotely fix broken driver installation.
Like I've said, I've tried fixing the problem. I have spent 8 hours trying to fix it. No drivers will work. I have tried a 2013 driver and the game does not start up. I really want this fixed, but I am finding no solution. I'm passed the point where I am starting to getting really frustrated.
I'm probably need to explain it to you more clearly: drivers from 2013 wasn't installed properly, they won't detect video card at all, e.g if you check yout 3rd DxDiag you'll see this: Code: --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name: Manufacturer: Chip type: DAC type: Device Key: Enum\ Display Memory: n/a Dedicated Memory: n/a Shared Memory: n/a Current Mode: 1366 x 768 (32 bit) (1Hz) Driver Name: Driver File Version: () Driver Version: DDI Version: unknown Driver Model: unknown Driver Attributes: Final Retail Driver Date/Size: , 0 bytes WHQL Logo'd: n/a WHQL Date Stamp: n/a Device Identifier: {D7B70EE0-4340-11CF-B123-B03DAEC2CB35} Vendor ID: 0x0000 Device ID: 0x0000 SubSys ID: 0x00000000 Revision ID: 0x0000 Driver Strong Name: Unknown Rank Of Driver: Unknown Video Accel: Deinterlace Caps: n/a D3D9 Overlay: n/a DXVA-HD: n/a DDraw Status: Not Available D3D Status: Not Available AGP Status: Not Available So problems you have that you can't install new drivers and I'm 99% that this problem is fixable, but probably you might to do one of this: Remove old drivers and then clean Windows registry with some special tool. Probably you'll need to modify drivers a bit or install drivers which already was modified for your notebook. But I'm can't say what exactly you need to try, it's why I recommend you to ask about that on some forum where you can find people who already managed same problem.
