Its all down to your own personal taste, Im sure if there are no vanilla cheats. Someone will make a MOD for it.
We have a variety of dev mode cheats that there's no real reason to turn off when we release the server. No official servers will run with them enabled, however, and we plan to make sure any cheats require a server flag to enable, so if the server says not cheats, there are no cheats. That's the expectation anyway.
The more choice you can give players, the better the game will be. I think garat's post sums things up perfectly. Leave them in the game to be enabled if you and your opponent both agree to it, otherwise lock it out. I had one particularly fun and memorable game of supcom with the cheats enabled. It's not something I do often, but every now and then god mode is a awful lot of fun.
At some point during beta or possibly after release Uber will release PA server software for people to host private servers.
Currently all servers are owned and run by Uber. In the future, you and I will be able to run our own servers. These servers can be set to do what we want them to.
Giving everyone access to the dedicated server software so they can host PA themselves without relying on Uber's infrastructure.
That is separate, Mods are not cheats, Making a mod that doubles the cost of everything is no more a cheat than a mod that halves costs. Most 'cheats' are really just developer shortcuts used to make tests quicker on thier end, like the 'Avatar' builder that can build anything instantly. Mike
