Well there is only 2 Game Modes currently, as more get added I'd bet you'll see things thin out a bit. Mike
I really like this mode, because u need to work in a team way more than in other alliance team games. ECO WAR machinery the fight itself
A lot of people think that if they aren't that good at the game (playing alone) that they'll do better when supported by a well-averaged team, or against a team in a similar scenario. Team games also tend to be faster-paced, because instead of having one commander to start, you have multiple. Regardless, 1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1v1's are what's up.
Pretty much every team game I've played has paired me up with a player who's fresh to the beta. Some have listened to suggestions I've made, whilst others have ignored the economy and tried to push out advanced units 5 minutes after the game starts I personally stay the hell away from team games for now!
It's so annoying when people do this. 80% of people I'm matched with try to push out a T2 factory within the first 10 minutes, even those who say they played Supcom a lot. Of course often the opposing team is equally incompetent so you can often pull off a win anyway, but it's not fun wrestling for control of engies with your team mate... For now I only play team matches with clan mates and stick to FFAs vs pubbies.
Team Armies is equivalent to playing FAF with Full Share on, but worse, and we all know that every time that happens a fairy dies. FFA is also pretty non-viable because with reclaim in the state it's currently in, you're penalised for attacking and eliminating other players. And there are are a surprising number of people who seem to want to play Team Armies 2; the most pointless game mode ever. You can team up with a complete stranger against the AI, yay! Except the AI is currently so weak you'll confidently trounce it the first time you play against it.
I personally don't like playing 1v1's and cant wait for the AI to get better as that is what I like to play. The friends I like to play with are more then happy to just have fun messing around against the current AI and that is fine too, they were never that confident players but once they get used to it they can be fairly good with their macro. As to comments about players racing up to advanced units and only building them, that is the effect of the current balance, as when you can tech up like that you are highly rewarded vs a player who didn't and that should really change.
No, trying to build a T2 factory as your 2nd or 3rd fac is not a good idea unless your opponent is far far away or a turtleing noob. I normally play on the 2 scale 2 planets of a randomly generated system so crippling your production capability so early is a death sentence.
Then is it more of a problem where newer players are just new rather then players just doing stuff that isn't the current meta? Because if so, then that should really be expected that new players don't know what they should be doing! And turtleing is as valid as any strategy, and should be punished by making them lose, teaching them that doing that is a bad idea. It seems like to me people are complaining because people in the beta haven't learned how to properly play.
Hmmm, you're probably right, I am raging a bit unnecessarily. It's just very frustrating as most people will ignore advice, even when dispensed politely and with explanations of how flow eco works. As I've said, I've solved the problem by simply not playing team games.
I TOTALLY agree, not knowing is one thing, but ignoring advice from players who do know what is up is just bad.
I don't think I've ever played a team game with someone I wasn't in voice comms with. Actually no, I did once - I left after about 10-15 minutes because he crippled us, and didn't appear to know how to use the chat to communicate. As I've said before, when Alliance mode is introduced, playing with 'randoms' will be a bit more palatable. For team armies, voice comms is almost essential.
