Hi Guys, Sorry if this is a repeat thread from someone else but I'm having trouble getting it working. I have an i7 with 8GB of ram and an ATI Radeon HD 5000 1GB graphics card. Windows 8 Pro I've updated the drive to the latest version and still when I run the game from the PA Launcher I get the application must close. I've installed the Game in a VM of Windows 7 ent x64 and I get the application was unable to start correctly (0x000007b). Click OK to close the application. I've tried the game in compatibility modes etc.. but no joy yet. please find attached a DXdiag I'm not sure if it will be of any use. Thanks David
Your problem on Windows 8 is outdated drivers: Code: Card name: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.20) Driver Date/Size: 7/26/2012 04:05:06, 1091584 bytes You have to install latest generic drivers from AMD. First open this page: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx First try to download and run "AMD Mobility Radeon™ Driver Verification Tool". If it's give you drivers to install just use them. If it's say that your hardware isn't compatible you need do that: Backup important information from laptop. Download and install "Latest Beta Driver" from same page. Usually generic drivers don't cause any problems, but I'm recommend back backups anyway. To be fair I doubt you'll able to run this game in VM if you not mean some Windows compatibility layer VM. But in terms of PA 0x000007b usually mean incorrect "d3dx9_43.dll" file installed and can be fixed this way: PS: If you met any problems post back here and we'll fix them.
I am having crash with Windows 8 as well, but in a slightly different circumstance. I can play the game from anywhere between 5 and 10 minutes, and I will get an unhandled exception. I believe the exception number is 4988. Any thoughts?
This is very interesting crash, e.g it's happen not only for you. There is one more person with mostly same video card (GTX 460 SE), latest drivers, but with Windows 7: FS#2432 I'm PMed you, because I'm need to collect your crash dump and game log.
