Just my 5c of input, but i figured if I'm in the beta, i may as well speak up. Others feel free to post please, I would really love someone at Uber to see this.

    1. SPACE TRAVEL
Getting to other planets feels kind of silly at the moment. In the Kick starter trailer your commander got picked up and placed in a big meaty space ship, ROARED out of the orbit, bits of his ship falling away as they became useless, then he descended on his target planet.
Right now you just flop out some weird little hover platform and plod off to take over a planet. Also, in the kick starter trailer (Which yes, as you can tell i fell in ABSOLUTE LOVE with) You plot your course to the new planet in some cool looking space UI, but that's not in the game?

    2. DROP SHIPS
Another thing from the trailer that i loved but have yet to hear about in game is that cool orbital launcher that flings units from your planet to another, dropping them into the heat of battle.

    3. NAKED USER INTERFACE
The blue blocky UI from the trailer was beautiful, But that's gone now too?

I dunno... This all just sort of came up after i finished with a few games feeling kind of meh, then went back to watch the kick starter trailer again to cheer me up... But all i know is I'll be one sad guy if this game is rushed out of the beta too soon.

PLEASE UBER, I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Ps. Explosions are super weak at the moment ;)

The trailer was a concept video, the UI in the trailer, was a representation for the UI in the game, it wasn't however an example of the finished product. It was to demonstrate the ability to travel to other planets and asteroids during the battle and then use them to further your plans for conquest.

Unit cannon's are still in development, along with a lot of other units, and will find there way into beta at some stage.

not to mention that the UI is incredibly moddable, it's just a webpage overlay so anybody that knows HTML, CSS and basic javascript can make the UI do whatever they want.

    Expect awesome skins

Uber is committed to working on all of your points. If you haven't been following their plan, last week their goal was to improve performance and stability, and they rolled out a new build every day. (That, by the way, is complete insanity, and I have no idea what possessed them to even attempt it.)

They have now announced that they will be shifting their focus to feature development, which includes all of the things you mentioned.

"This is a beta" messages (along with explanations) clearly need to be 3 minutes long, unskippable and require you to pass a multiple choice test in order to actually play the build.

    *sigh*...

    BETA!!!

Everything you're talking about is a work in progress.

This game is probably not even half way completed.

Interplanetary action definitely isn't even halfway completed.

Everything you mentioned is being worked on and will be receiving a huge overhaul.

Hang in there dude. This game is going to grow and mature very quickly – but keep in mind, it's in Beta and is nowhere near a completed game.

A typical case of setting the wrong expectations at the wrong time and then being disappointed over nothing.

    ultracommanderjim,
The GUI in the trailer was just a mock-up, while it looked cool like tons of sci-fi GUI (Minority Report, Iron Man, etc...) it's not exactly a functional, task oriented GUI.

If you feel there are any functions you want to see in terms of GUI, I am collection all the community suggestions here:
    https://forums.uberent.com/threads/unofficial-official-gui-discussion-thread.52055/

Please take a look and let us know if you think anything functionality needs to be added.

    Cheers mate!

Look here son. If Steve Thompson spent a whole day on polishing the lander and its animations to replicate the Kickstarter video, and then for some reason they had to scrap it or completely change it, that time would be lost!

So instead, they implement features, make sure everything works and only THEN finalize the visuals. Mavor explained this process at least once in a stream.

Last I checked, Uber was absolutely exceptional at doing unbelievable feats. (Mavor crunching for a whole damn year)

I doubt you have the ability to judge when the game should be released better than Uber does, especially with the multiple games they have behind their belts released on top of their experience of the good and bad.

    @OP
This is the only game I can actually say to wait and see, because it only gets better from here. I don't know of a single game released by a company that has more potential to succeed than this one. At all.

This isn't EA. This isn't Activision Blizzard. It's not Microsoft or Sony. It's not Nexon. It's not Aliens: Colonial Marines. It's not pay to win. It's not built on the opinions on the devs alone. This game is not being built where the players only get what the devs like.

Players pay for the idea given to them. They pay for the hype, the advertising, the epic trailers, and early gameplay. They then expect the company to succeed and deliver that massive can of awesome with the seal of approval from the playerbase. Without the ability to feel what the fans want delivered, you simply can't deliver anything with any seal of playerbase approval.

Planetary Annihilation is different. They're open, versatile, and being very transparent. A few things here and there to surprise us, but keep in mind they have the general discussion and the backers forum. Uber reads and asks for feedback and ideas so much that it takes time away from making the game itself. If that's not dedication to the fanbase, I don't know what is. We may not all see the same way on subjects, but one thing we all want is the best RTS game ever, of all time.

Good things are coming. The Uber staff knows what they're doing, and they know what we want. I have absolutely no doubt they will come equipped and fully prepared. Uber will not disappoint.

From what I am slowly learning about the games industry.
The most important thing is Uber isn't being pulled in multiple directions by a publisher.
It's just Us, Them and their budget.

Technically it's only them and the budget. We don't have any actual power over them directly.
