black screen reconnect bug

I have had a few games where it has booted me while loading then when I reconnect all I can see is black. I left one Realm player in a handicap game because of that.
Not intentional! I need to upgrade that's for sure but I think this is a coding issue. I hope my bringing it up gives a clue to a possible bug and thus a solution.

Seems I somehow moved a commander while trying to get it to work. Sorry to whoever the dude was. Sincerely didn't know. :/

When the screen is black, you can still "play" and I use the term very very loosely. You can hit enter and chat to the teams, you can see the econ above, and I found that if I hit C it will give me a commander, I can select units with click and drag...its just like normal.....but you cant see anything lol

I have found that on smaller maps ( 2 or less planets) that the screen with come back, slowly, and reload, but I also have serious lag issues after that.....something happens and it gets really bogged down.

I would guess that it would still load up from black with 4+ planets, but it most take forever, I just chat to all "Sorry Black Screen bug, im out, gg gl" etc.


Last time it happened it went black maybe 4mins into the game, I had just started my first factory, when I got back ended up that 2 other players also had the black screen, and maybe the 4th guy too but maybe he didn't reload....we all just abandoned the match

It was unfortunate the guy I was in a team with wouldn't take on board what happened. He went into a rage about it the next time we were in the lobby. Don't think The Realm would appreciate any of their players behaving like that (which he is in).

Maybe a kid or a new guy. Maybe he just never experienced that issue or any bugs. I've got back in before too I think... not often. Usually I have to leave.

Most people are awesome and get the fact a) real life happens b) it's still in beta and full of bugs.

I cant see how anyone wouldn't understand what happened.....most of the time when I say I got the black screen people are like....yup happens all the time, or even a Me too lol

Sometimes I will lock up at the loading screen as well.

No need to rage about it, not sure what the guys issue is, it happens to a lot of people lol

Try pressing f5 or press home and then end.

I think the issue is one that most people with lower specification machines or older Radeon graphics cards have. It's easily reproducible when someone with such a machine gets dropped and reconnected with a game.
