When starting a match whether it be with ai or without, it takes about 10 - 30 minutes to load and when it does load the match i can't choose where i want to start also the ai or player starts atleast 1 or 2 minutes ahead of me maybe more. To top it all off the game hits hard frame drop and network lag, so i'll be lucky enough to get a couple extractors in before the ai knows where i am. This has started after Wednesdays build, i waited this long because i thought it might be fixed. please help i've been having a great time otherwise.
There is 3 things you can try to decrease loading times: If you use Steam, try to use Uber launcher instead of Steam to get the game: https://store.uberent.com/Download/Install?titleId=4It's known that only Steam version sometimes load really long. Go to Nvidia Control Panel and force enable "Threaded Optimization". After you run game, open task manager and set high priority on PA.exe process. Also when you start game watch memory usage, if you see enormous (3-3.5GB) amount of RAM used for simple game on two planet it's might be memory leak. Then try to close game window, run it again and try reconnect to game, or start new one. I'm met memory leaks in previous builds, but probably it's already fixed in 54757.
I do use the PA launcher, but i can't enable Threaded Optimization because my nvidia control panel crashes when ever i try. I will change the priorities for PA though,i'll see if that will change anything.
This is pretty strange. By date in your DxDiag it's looks like you using Beta drivers, am I right? Can you try downgrade to stable driver and try it again?
I don't think that would make much of a difference since i tried before and after switching over to the beta driver, still encountered the same problem. EDIT: It seems almost anything i try to change in the 3d settings tab, nvidia control panel becomes unresponsive.
I'm going to use that thread, since I'm also quite unable to start a game. I just activated my key yesterday and converted it into a Steam key to download the Kickstarter Beta. So far, so good, but when I start the game, it says to me "Unable to connect to UberNet: couldn't connect to host", and the game shuts down immediatly. Any idea how to fix the problem? Do I need to open some specific port or such to get the connection?
I contacted nvidia and they were able to help me, ill see if the game changes performance. Thank you for your help
Thank you SXX for your help PA has been running much better 45+ fps, but there still seems to be a small problem it still takes longer than it should to start a game, and when i do get in the game my team mate and enemies start way before me.
When you talk about such problems please provide exact numbers because for some people "longer" it's 1 minute and for some it's 15.
okay, well it can take anywhere from 8 - 20 minutes to get into the game, and telling by how far my team mates usually are, i am almost always 3 - 5 minutes late
This is really bad loading times for normal 2-3 planet game. For real it's shouldn't take more than a minute. Have you tried to setup PA.exe process priority?
This is really weird, other idea: check PA.exe memory usage while you joining game. For normal 2-3 planets with default size it's shouldn't be more than 2-2.5GB. If you see abysmal memory usage try to close PA window, run it again and reconnect. There is possible memory leaks (at lest I'm seen one myself in prior build), so long loading times might be also related to usage of "virtual memory".
Here is a picture of my task manager when running PA with only 3 planets 2 scale 3 planets and 1 scale 1 moon.
It's not looks like memory leak. To be fair I'm have no idea why "Threaded Optimization" not improved situation for you. Probably you can just need to wait for next versions and fixes.
Ever since I've made the suggested changes I haven't been able to see my landing circles at game start.
