Not sure if I'm the only one out there, but every time I've tried to run PA today, I get the blue screen of death somewhere between ten seconds and two minutes. I keep trying to change settings to see if that works, but it keeps blue screening. Alienware m17x with some custom hardware, and running it on a 64-bit. Any advice?
Your drivers are outdated go here and download the 64-bit Version (pretty sure this is the right link) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/De...sion=Windows 7 (64-bit)*&DownloadType=Drivers If that does not work open the zip a attatched and test your ram open the program once for every cpu core you have, let it go for a few hours and see if there are any errors.
Okay Corang was right about fact you need to update your drivers, but give you wrong link. Code: Card name: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 Driver Date/Size: 1/5/2012 22:36:50, 8034304 bytes First update Intel HD drivers, download and install "Win64_153117.exe" from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=23106 Then you need to update drivers for AMD Radeon HD 7970M. First open this page: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx First try to download and run "AMD Mobility Radeon™ Driver Verification Tool". If it's give you drivers to install just use them. If it's say that your hardware isn't compatible you need do that: Backup important information from laptop. Download and install "Latest Beta Driver" from same page. Usually generic drivers don't cause any problems, but I'm recommend back backups anyway.
When you done with driver updates please check this video how-to: And then configure your drivers to run PA.exe on AMD high performance discrete graphics card.
Also, if you get a BSOD, you also get a very complicated error code displayed on the screen. You can always jot that down, then do a search for common fixes for said error. This might take a couple of restarts to get all the code down, perhaps.
Lol nice catch didn't even see the radeon graphics in there. btw: i did fix my link Before you posted yours, just sayin'
So, when I attempted to update the intel driver, the installer told me that the driver was incorrect. I even used intel's website to do it's own search on my computer, and it picked the same driver, which it then told me I needed to contact the manufacturer. As for the AMD card, the download and installation was simple. Unfortunately, when I attempted to search for planetary annihilation to set it to high performance, it doesn't seem to exist. Not even in my backup steam library. I'm still searching. Any hints?
This is sad that dumb manufacturer's like DELL lock drivers by default, but you can bypass this check using these instructions: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-022355.htm http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033915.htm But it's not critical, PA won't use Intel graphics, but newer drivers might improve performance of your laptop in general. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Planetary Annihilation\PA.exe or C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Planetary Annihilation\bin_x64\PA.exe Actually you can choose first one, it's should be okay.
just sayin, seeing how my alienware came with a nividia gforce, i would think getting a nividia driver would make more sense
So have you fixed your problem? I'm totally sure that your DxDiag do not contain any information about Nvidia graphics, you can check it yourself.
