Im pretty sure somebody has made this post before, but lately Ive been wanting to vs. an AI, and Ive run into a few issues: 1. The AI is always the same, I know the game is in early beta, but it would be nice to see the AI fabbing just air air air. 2. Air units are super OP, and I here this game is inspired from games like supreme commander, and in SC, 10 anti air guns will take care of your enemy air problem for a while. (Yes, I know the game is still being balanced.) And at about when I start fabbing advanced units, advanced bombers come in and destroy EVERYTHING, even when I have at least 100 anti air spread across the majority of the map space I "own." I'm not sure if this means I'm bad at RTSs or that the game is still unbalanced, but I think play ability is an issue for me at the moment. I've been with this game since the alpha and I fully support any game play challenges it throws at me, this game is what I've been waiting for for years. (Just added that good part at the end so I don't seem like I have activated my unfair nit picking demon ins
Beating the AI is super easy. It only uses construction aircraft to build, so early fighters can very easily kill all of its build capacity, leaving it crippled. It's only a problem if you leave it to its own devices and let it build up.
Firstly they have barely implemented the AI. They only build air at the moment because it was the easiest to program (no pathing) The easiest way to deal with the AI is to build an air factory early (I do it after the bot factory) and set it to building fighters (1-2 scouts to find the AI is also handy. Have them patrol around your base. After you get 10-15 up, set them in a patrol around the enemies base. Then set the air factory to patrol around the AI's base from the get go, and they can't bother you
So it is mostly just me? ^^ Ive tried the fighter patrolling method around my base, and ive also tried setting up AA near the enemy base, but fighters near the enemy base? Thanks for the tips guys, I feel so silly!
It's counter intuitive since you wouldn't think sending your own fighters into the teeth of enemy air defence is a good idea, but as the balance currently stands, ground based AA is really bad and can't stop a group of fighters from eating every construction plane in someone's base. (Also why flying engineer swarms aren't a good idea if you don't have air superiority)
Amazing, the day I post something about my air units problem, is the night that the patch for AIs using bots is released, BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARDS!
Has anyone versed the ai using bots yet? i wento into a game, but the ai still just spammed air, no bots in sight.
i did and it was quite a fun surprise, they easily avoid your allready placed defensive lines in early game, in my game they came to me around 5min in... blew a fabber and a max. and then i had a long stalemate around a group of 6 metal spots in the middle of the "map" ... had my com there to secure the area with turrets while i built up a defensive line of arty, they just kept comming into the grinder. after that it ended because of bad pathing, got a glob of 200+ t1/t2 bots in the middle of the enemy base, trying to get out, but playing bumper bots instead.
Right now the AI randomly chooses to be air focused or bot focused. Later this will change to react to players and/or be settable in the lobby.
