As a fellow commander in the ranks of combat with PA, I have ran into my fair share of people who have absolutely no idea how to play this game or have misconceptions about it that affect game play with them. Some of them are even down right rude and make the game round unplayable. If/When will there be implementation of an tutorial for the the game? This could take form as a small set of "missions", though I know that they said there would be no campaign in the game. Until then, where should I point those who, for lack of a better word, ruin the game with stupidity? Example and then I am done ranting: I played a game with a guy who would destroy my fabs and structures saying "No bots on my servers" who then stalled the eco going t2 instantly. I tried to explain to him, as did the rest of the players and he would have none of it. I truly feel bad that these kind of people play and ruin the experience for those who do know what they are doing and are trying to have fun.
Hullo! A couple of similar threads have already been posted - have a browse through them and see if you can find any suggestions that might help: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/game-manual.52128/ https://forums.uberent.com/threads/i-really-need-a-tutorial.51729/ EDIT: Also, as tbos has already said, shared armies aren't much fun unless you know the person you're playing with. There are several clans on this forum which you might want to consider joining for team games until Uber implement the alliance feature. Other than that I highly recommend sticking to keeping control of your own units.
Thanks for the suggested reading material! Do we know an eta for when the alliances feature will become public?
As he said joining a clan such as the realm, ballistic logistics, stratagem or even our own promethean clan is a good idea to avoid the 'difficult' team players.
It was bound to happen at some point. "Those" players -- the 10-year-olds who got their parents to buy them the cool space game -- have arrived at long last. The purity of alpha is gone, and the floodgates of Tartarus have opened, and hath unleashed toxicity upon the galaxy. May Hades save their souls, for they know not what they do...
You should check out PA Matches: http://pamatches.com/ There's lots of gameplay on there from skilled players and great commentators. Great way to learn how to play PA. There's even a tutorials section: http://pamatches.com/game-type/tutorial/ In the meantime, I'd rather that Uber works on developing the game rather than making tutorials that will be outdated very quickly as more and more features are added to PA. Edit: in the meantime, don't play army matches with randoms. I never do.
As has been said, stop playing team games, my experience has improved immeasurably now that I only play FFAs and 1v1s. Had the pleasure of jumping into a public 2v2v2 today and getting matched with someone not only polite and funny, but also extremely good at the game so it does happen, but mostly it's just not worth the frustration from getting matched with idiots.
We've floated the idea of doing a step-by-step kind of tutorial, as well as an expanded written one with tons of links to the simplest of mechanics. This is something we'll continually evaluate as the game gets closer and closer to feature completion. Hard to do it now, but we do hear you.
There are only so many ways you can make someone watch a video, but more people usually do if it's a RTS game that's new to them. So a video with some better playing principles unique to this game would be a start. I would know how to do a step by step video tutorial, but I couldn't realtime record it, just screenshot-flipbook it with quick explanations. I could probably make it as short as 3 minutes for the basics and 3 more minutes for common build-up game-ending strategies.
