I dream of a day when Linux overtakes Windows and one front that could bring that about is the gaming industry. In the last live stream Jon did mention trying out the Steam Box. Would be interesting to find out if Ubernet end up being one of the early consoles.

So I wonder what way PA would work on a console anyway??

I'm very hopeful for SteamOS and Valve's console announcements. If developers and hardware companies get on board with Steam/Valve, they'll be vastly improving their support on linux, per se. That's what I'd love to see. I just built a new Win8 machine, and how I wished that linux were enough. In 3-4 years, it just might be.

I'm seriously doubt any Microsoft console will ever support OpenGL, but there is small chance that PS4 will have OpenGL support. Technically PA can work on consoles because both of them is x86 hardware, but practically nope, I don't think so.

I have good expectations of SteamOS. A linux based operating system that not only features an easy to use interface but is also made specifically with gaming in mind? DO WANT. I'm really interested in putting it on an external harddrive, linking my computer to my PC, buying the Steam gamepad and chilling on my couch or bed with my entire steam collection to play.

the Steam Box was my thinking. Just how do you ditch the keyboard for such an rts.

Halo Wars was a really well done console RTS but it had limited orders and shortcuts.

Steam controller is also designed to emulate keyboard and mouse for non-api titles, so I guess it's just a cumbersome way of using a cursor to click everything with a few pertinent shortcuts mapped to various buttons. Not everyone plays every game with every keyboard shortcut. Still would be slower than a mouse/keyboard combo.

SteamBox will be just a computer with x86 processor and Linux, it's mean you don't need special permission from Valve to run PA on it.
