I have no impact effects at all, and the engine exhaust effects are offset by an astronomical unit the impact generates no effect, just a crater and dead units Just me or general bug?
I have the same bug! I didn't even realise there were meant to be exhaust trails at this stage... I just don't get them at all, and simply thought they hadn't been implemented. I also don't get an explosion animation!
I think it's just an incomplete and hastily added feature. The new crater doesn't even have the proper pathing field yet.
I wonder how they were able to get the nice pretty explosion for the beta trailer (assuming that was in-game, I'm pretty sure it was).
I have only managed to hit a planet with one small moon, and I think it didn't create an explosion at all. There suddenly was a crater in the planet. The other 3 I tried firing at another planet got stuck in orbit around the sun... Also, that first asteroid did generate exhaust trails which stayed at one point in space, the others didn't create it at all.
in the meantime I saw some effects during impact, and they already look awesome. But it seems to be random right now, if you see them or not
This is +- the first build with these things in it, we can't really expect everything to work already. But I am looking forward to that
I managed to get some nice explosion effects what version of PA are you using? I am using steam atm and its working fine, you can see so yourself
Zoom out to space, look at the planet list on the top right, it should say how many engines you have and need on the planet or moon. Once you have enough you can click Annihilate and go from there. --- On the topic of this feature being buggy, there's a condition where winning the game by killing their commander with a moon collision, whilst having the game focused on the moon, results in a draw rather than a win. I've filed a bug (FS#2244) so hopefully it'll get fixed along with the other issues.
I noticed that, if the moon is small enough (I think under size 250) you will require 3 engines to initiate Annihilation phase. Larger than that (up to an amount I'm not sure of) you will require 25 engines! You get 5 icons under the moon each with the number 5 in it. So there's a huge jump (from 3 to 25) in engine requirements for a modest increase in moon size. Though of course everything is new, fresh & buggy and the word(s) of the day are ... it's ALPHA/BETA !
I've had some issues where I have yet been unable to even smash a moon into another planet yet, I've tried 6 times now and all have failed, i'll either loose the interface all together when I go to initiate the moon colission, or the game crashes for one reason or another, and without a saved game feature I have to keep restarting the entire match all over again which takes a couple hours to reach that tech level for me, after 6 attempts I'm just totally going to give up on this for now. All icons in the system view completely disapear, where you have the indication of how many engines is needed per planet/moon. unable to even select a unit, a building, or actually click on anything, only thing that i'm able to do is zoom once I reach that point of finishing the building of the engines. Or it'll throw up a PA.exe has stopped working.
