UI readibility

    I post this thread from my perspective as someone who has played quite a lot of TA and SC and loved both games to death. I just had my first experience with PA and though I shared my impressions of it regarding the UI. I tried to search to see if there's a thread like this one going already, but didn't find one.

    This first impression was very positive, I immediately felt at home and the controls feel very similar to SC. But the UI is missing a lot of things, that I feel are really quality of life things that make it a lot easier to play the game. So this is a list of the things I feel the UI currently is missing and that should be added to make the game easier to play.

    - first thing that is obvious right at the start of the game is that you can't really see the metal deposits. Pressing Ctrl + N fixes this, so why is this not on by default? The metal icons in SC where also always on and I don't see a reason why it should be different here.
    - there is no way for me to see what I have selected when I zoom out far enough so that units are only displayed as icons. Units in SC had a white colored border to tell them apart when you selected them.
    - there is no indication of idling workers that allows you to select them from anywhere. This lead to me building workers and sending them to do stuff and then totally forgetting about them.

    These are the main issues I currently noticed that are bugging me the most. Some other issues are noticed are this.

    - might be a bug, but there is no indication on an active radar of the range the radar has. I selected the radar on a scale 4 planet and the whole planet glowed green.
    - the scaling of the queue arrows seems a tad bit large for me. I would prefer a smaller look to them.
    - I also didn't see a surrender button. I did lose the game and just left it by quitting. Does this give the win to the other player?

    Apart from these issues I think the game is going in the right direction and I'm hopeful that I will have as much fun with it as I had with TA and SC before :)

    This has been a big issue for me as well. I'm sure it'll be added in eventually though.

    I agree the UI needs to be improved, some good thoughts.

    I agree on all counts. I can probably add a toggle for metal spot icons in the settings. I intend to add way for idle engineers and factories to show up in the UI, but the celestial UI still needs a lot of work. There are hotkeys to select idle engineers and factories however.
