Since it patched this morning (54459), i get a "pa.exe has stopped working" error every time i try and launch the game.
The game worked well enough before the patch.

I've updated my direct x/video drivers, verified data and then completely reinstalled PA and i'm still getting the same error.

Anyone else having the same problems? no one else seems to be up in arms about it.

I get the same error, but then, I also did on the build that was out during the livestream yesterday.

Be sure to readd any security exceptions when you update.

    Try updating your sound drivers.

There should be a log file in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\PALauncher\ that gives you some info about what happened with the update process.

    Additional things to try:
    • Close stuff like Skype, Dropbox, etc. that inject shell handlers into processes.
    • Clear your system temporary files.
    • Delete everything in the cache folder in the launcher directory, and do a full re-check of files from the launcher.
    • Do a full Windows Update run just in case - always best to have stuff up to date.

Don't take Microsoft's word for what constitutes "essential" though.
Choose which (if any) updates you get YOURSELF! (ie Security Packages)

Not just security patches, though. Yes, those are the only essential ones, but other updates include stability and performance updates.

Yes, and then you get all the stuff to do with software you haven't even got installed, and stuff to do with updating your clock in different parts of the world, etc etc etc.

All I mean is, read the description of what Microsoft thinks you need, and make a decision yourself. If
an update says "performance improvements" etc, then by all means consider it.

Don't know what that is, but if stopping it running fixed your issue, great.
Had it been installed since your previous patch?

Or maybe not, it ran once when i closed the program and now its gone back to refusing to load. Yes it was installed before the previous patch.

Edit: the game will launch if i run it straight after a reboot, it must be something loading shortly after windows startup

Does your razor game booster auto-start?, cos you may need to stop that.

I've uninstalled it, its not really worth having anyway. I can't get the crash to happen again now, it must have been related to it.

(It does have some game hooks for showing an fps counter, video recording etc)

Good stuff. Worth remembering to ask others who have problems if they have this software running.

    Happy gaming...
