Uber, Can we have a Forum Section for "GUI Discissions"

    Hello there Uber,

    I was wondering if you guys might be consider opening up a GUI section.
    I know it's going to be a big upcoming thing for you guys and you're going to have your own ideas.

    Hoping that a separate section will allow us fans to start discussing different aspects of the GUI, like what is displayed, how it's displayed and how we interact with everything.

    My thought is if we can pull together enough mock-ups, then you guy will be able to pull some of those ideas at your discretion.

    It will also allow us to highlight which GUI features we feel are important. Even if they don't come with the stock GUI, then it'll at least be high on the modder's list.

    I'm really doubt we need many subforums if there won't be very strict moderation. Don't see any reason why we can't discuss GUI in Beta forum.

    GUI is very important for an RTS, and it's definitely lacking in its current state, but suggestions for UI are getting drowned out in gameplay and bug discussions. So +1 in favor of a dedicated UI discussion. Now that we're in beta, it's high time we start talking about what works and what doesn't (and right now, there's a lot more of the latter).

    I agree, based on the level of Moderation Uber seems to want we aren't ready for tons of new Subforums.

    The only things that actually might need a subforum now or shortly is Clan type stuff.

    Gui?, i assume UI is User Interface, what does the g stand for ? Good?

    Alrighty, then I'll probably start an "Official Unofficial GUI Thread".

    I think top post would track...
    - Top requested features.
    - Backend stuff needed by Uber for modders to do their stuff.
    - GUI mockups.
    - Top GUI mods.

    And then we can use to discuss strategic zoom, unit selection, strategic icons, graphical readability and other things?

    Any thoughts?

    Hmmm, guys, I've been away from the Alpha for a while, I'm only starting to come back now.

    I'm compiling my info and doing a write-up and simple mock-ups.

    What control interfaces have you found to be the best?
    What other games can we pull from?


    What other types of software can we pull from?
    I'm a 3D modeller by trade. I have a pretty low tolerance for software that won't let me control my stuff well.
    I'm going to pull some ideas from the stuff I use. Afterall, people use this stuff 40+ hours a week.

    Do you guys have any other games to point me towards?
    I'm hoping we can incorporate the best of the best.
