I have noticed using asteroids is quite frequently destroying anything that would be able to see the blast and so not showing the effects. The same is sort of for nukes except for the white light shows a bit. (this may have changed, I have not used nukes lately) These more serious attacks should be universally visible, its hard to NOT know when a nuclear war is happening on the other side of the planet, and it really gives that fun "oh boy, wonder what happened over there" moment. It also gives us something to watch, which is normally covered up by fog of war as soon as it happens. I think knowledge of planets exploding doesnt need large amounts of recon, it should be something we are all made aware of as much as the death of commanders already are for us. Just imagine being able to see that distant planet being smashed as you happen to look in its direction. Just a little tidbit on a rather minor aesthetic subject. Cheers
Yeah i agree. im always like WTF when i hear that loud explosion, either commander got wasted or a nuke went off. I guess what comes into question is that it will reveal where someone is fighting.
If there is that level of tech, or something important like a comander being destroyed you should know about whatbis happening. And if you don't at that point in the game it might be a good wake up call. I would go for it. Especiallybto add drama. Besides I can see most orbitals around my planet, why not large explosions? It should be added.
Blowing up anything nuclear including commanders feels like it should be that moment we all detect. We hear the explosion and know a player is "annihilated". If we havent scouted that spot by now ...well it doesnt matter its nuked anyways...but i think that should be part of the give away. I already base my incoming invasions on the fact that my neighbor opponent is defeated. One can easily assume a force is still at that location.
