SSX, I wanted to thank you again for the driver advise. I actually had an issue with my computer locking up on me constantly, and the fix you gave me for the game seems to have helped with the lockups as well. I'm guessing the old driver was preventing the GPU from functioning fully, so the CPU was working harder (just a guess). Anyway, I really appreciate the help
It's looks like you never installed AMD drivers on this laptop, right? Can you open this page: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/legacy/Pages/legacy-radeonaiw-vista64.aspx Try to download and install "Latest Beta Driver", post result here, okay? Actual problem is explained on this page: AMD don't officially support these cards under Windows 8.
You mean it's crash on start of battle in-game, or you mean you got crash before main menu even appear? (e.g on start of game)
It's most likely happen because you have 32-bit Windows Vista and game crash with out of memory. On 32-bit operation systems game only able to use 2GB of RAM and it's might be not enough. Actually it's seems like your laptop have 4GB of RAM but you only able to use 3GB because of 32-b operation system. I can only recommend you to upgrade to 64-bit OS.
You can check memory usage when crash happen, I mostly sure crash is related to limitation of RAM because most of people with 32-bit OSes have problem with Beta. And really, with 4GB RAM installed (I mostly sure about that) you have no reason to use 32-bit OS.
I know if you have boxed copy of Windows 7 (or just CD you get with notebook) you can always install 64-bit on same hardware for free. But I have no idea how it's work for Vista, so probably you need to consult about that with somebody else.
I'm having issues with my game loading the battle. I join the game and it begins to load...then it stops responding. I didn't have these issues till i updated my driver this morning.
I have actually run these a few times already, this time I uninstalled it first and then tried to start clean. It all went except the display drivers, they gave me this error: Driver Install: the specified driver package was not installed for matching devices
Do you have any real reason to use Windows 8 on this laptop? I'm think this is actually bad idea if AMD don't support drivers you need for this OS.
I mean I guess theres not some super reason, other than I wanted to give it a shot with the consumer preview, liked it and got a free copy from school. The worst part of all this is by trying to get some of this to work, I wasnt able to move audio over my hdmi out. I wonder if it could be because I am on the 8.1 preview? Maybe once the full 8.1 comes out it will be supported? I dont know...
Most likely yes. HDMI audio are handled by video card driver. Quote from AMD website: AMD don't support Windows 8 for your video card at all it's released long time ago. Obviously they won't support Windows 8.1 too. Probably you need go to some forums specialized on Windows 8 and ask if there way to bypass your problem, but without drivers you won't able to run this game.
If you still have same problem you might take a look at this topic: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/cant-get-pa-to-launch-load-library-error.51855/
I wish it were so simple for me T_T After thorough interrogation I determined my crashes to be likely caused by the fact that even the latest driver from Intel (about a year old now) is 6 items short of full OpenGL 3.0 support. I can run Anno but looks like no PA until I can afford a new computer T_T Oddly, the OpenGL viewer thinks I have DirectX 9c, when I know I have 11.
