Hey guys, I can't play the beta because I can't login in-game due to certain characters that aren't typeable.
hm, yeah no. It's a rather safe password and I don't want to lower my accounts safety just because the in-game password field doesn't allow these characters yet. It's better to get this fixed than telling your users to use less secure passwords. Thanks for your quick reply though!
This will be extremely helpful if you'll change password for something else and then say us what language you used for old password and what symbol you can't use. PS: I'm just think this bug is fixed, you can check it on bugtracker: FS#24
Exactly. This should be fixed, I suppose. However, 99.9% of passwords are alphanumeric + symbols. The characters that make up the password don't matter, its as easy to guess a password with special characters as it is to guess one with letters and numbers (from a computer's perspective). Its the safety of the pattern of characters that is important about a pass. If you want to play the beta, change your password. I don't anticipate Uber pushing out a new launcher (which would be required to change this) for a while.
I don't have this issue with my current password, but making the change is not difficult from a coding perspective, and unless they require something in the field to be considered an escape character, there's not reason for it. I agree that stronger passwords including virtually any character should be accepted on anything that requires a password in 2013.
So when you type it you don't see it in login/password form or you see it but it's not working for password? I can print \ in form on both Windows and Linux.
when I type this character nothing happens, it just doesn't appear in the textbox. neither in the username textbox, nor in the password textbox(should appear as a dot there, but doesn't)
Also got this problem with Win7 64 bit, german keyboard. The problem seem to be characters that need the alt gr key. Everything else seems to be working. Changing the keyboard does not help as it seems to change back to the german layout when the game is started. Workaround: You can type the letters outside of the game, copy them switch ingame and paste them.
