This a issue I have had for a while now, that has also transferred to the beta so it's not the games issue, but when I play Planetary Annihilation everything but the sun is incredibly dark, and I can barely make anything out. Hopefully this is easily fixable, for I am so excited for the planet crashing.
Outdated drivers is your problem: Code: Card name: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 Driver Date/Size: 12/17/2009 01:50:55, 4684288 bytes Download new one and everything will work fine. I really doubt how it's possible game even run on drivers from 2009
First open this link: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx And try to download and run "AMD Mobility Radeon™ Driver Verification Tool" . If it's give you drivers to install just use them and everything will work fine. If it's say that your hardware isn't compatible you need to do that: Backup all important information from laptop. Download and install "Latest Beta Driver". Generic drivers never break system of anyone from this forum, but I'm recommend backup anyway if you have some work documents or so. Just to be 100% sure you won't lost important information.
. I know, but it's all I got. Although it still gets me through some games. On a side topic, I am thinking of getting the Alienware Aurora, any tips on desktops that are good, and up-gradable, because I honestly have no clue what I am doing, the computer I am using now is a Laptop, but I recently found out I can't upgrade it, without completely dismantling it, and I am not even slightly capable at this sort of thing. Finally, thank you so very much, I am downloading the update as I type.
Your hardware is pretty good for laptop, everything will work much better when you install latest generic drivers. Best desktop is one you build yourself, but if you prefer pay money over spending of time it's you can. E.g all Alienware hardware are extremely overpriced. I can say you only few basic ideas: Buy SSD for system drive, not expensive one, 128GB are okay. Do not buy two video cards, SLI/CrossFireX will always give you more problems than advances. Do not buy dual-GPU video cards like GTX 690, HD 6990, HD 7990. They have even more problem than SLI/CFX.
Im running two Titans wich are dual gpu and im running them in SLI. No problems what so ever. Only thing i've had problems with are running older games with SLI and triple monitor setup.
I've had the same problem with the lighting and lack of textures on planets. I have a 27" iMac with an ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB, 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7, and 12 GB RAM. Unfortunately, it looks like there are no recent driver updates for Mac OSX for the HD5750...does this mean I won't be able to run the game?
Once again, not that technologically inclined, but I could try, any who, when I tried to download it, it got to the display driver, I believe, then my computer blue screened due to something not responding, nothing damaged though.
Problem with Mac is much worse, it's reported here on bugtracker: FS#1990 On Mac you can't just update drivers, so you need to wait before developers manage this problem somehow. Right now if you have Intel HD you can force game to run on integrated card. It's will work slow, but you'll see textures.
I really don't know, I just went to detect and install, sorry if I am being difficult, I really don't know much about this stuff, I know sad, but I am trying.
It's totally okay, not everyone are computer specialists. Just try to download driver right from this link: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd_catalyst_13.10_mobility_beta.exe Then try to install it.
Well whatever that bug was it apparently doesn't matter, for now I can see, I CAN FIGHT!!!! Thank you very much.
Many games doesn't support SLI properly and you will get +10-20% to performance for +100% to hardware cost. Also PA for example doesn't support SLI at all and it's even make performance worse (at least in previous build it was like that).
