Is the economy changing from the alpha build to the beta build?

Someone mentioned a solar collector orbital unit in another thread I think. Aside from that I think you probably need to watch and wait a bit, especially since the interim build was only released into the wild around an hour ago.

If so I am welcoming New recruits to anyone interested. Send me a pm.

I think the main addition to economy is the gas giant planets... Maybe more was planned but it still will mostly be metal and energy as I understand it . :)

Not me at least. I've been playing since Alpha started and doing much lurking on the forums watching the huge discussions about orbital units and such. Can't wait to get that upgrade to the new build and give some multi-planet stuff a try! Unfortunately I won't be able to till at least tomorrow night, and even then I can only tether through my phone at the moment as my home internet isn't up till next Tuesday :/
At least the build will probably be more stable by then, probably even have planet smashing by then too! ^_^

It has definitely changed. just been explaining the change in irc, but metal IS NO LONGER dependent on metal. Engineers or factories STILL require both energy and metal to build, but if you do not have enough power to build a building with the amount of engineers you have, your metal income will not commit suicide when you energy stored hits 0.

I like this change. It simplifies things a little and means a simple miscalculation in balancing eco early or a bad AI pathing issue won't get you stalling metal and getting an early disadvantage.

Less metal and I could be wrong but you get more income per metal extractor.

Now I roughly estimate you get 7 easy to access metal points when you spawn, and a scale 2 planet in total of both spawns and random points would have 25.

I remember when you could get 25 from your one spawn area. That was too many. This, if they in fact did buff metal extrators rates, would be more correct than wrong.

Yes though, there are orbital solar collectors. They aren't strong enough to completely cover the power that the orbital factory takes to make them though, but they are expensivish and strong nonetheless.

nothing other than the amount of mex points and their particular clusters has been changed.

Hmm, for having 1/5 the normal metal points, I don't feel personally limited as much. If it is just a feeling, then I think it isn't as servere a nerf as everyone says.
