Now, i remember back in kickstarter that the aim was to only make one faction, or one set of units for all, that is the same for everyone. Is this new Factions announcement 100% Lore, or is this some sort of turn around on what was originally said and to introduce different factions into multiplayer? Im not on here to complain about something, just posting to clear a misunderstanding that im having.
My understanding is that it's 100% lore, though we might have different unit names for different factions.
Pretty much. Think of it like almost any sports league, sure the teams might be from different towns, states or countries, but they're all playing the same sport. Mike
It's crazy how good I am at making predictions on the future behavior of the masses: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/unit-launcher.51276/#post-785277 i can't even... I won't be debating here.
As i understand it we all get the same unit set and the "factions" are merely referring to the commander type you choose who are leaders of their "faction".
I must be clearly missing how that is even related to anything posted here. There is NO debate here to begin with, just a simple clarification on what they meant. But i guess you didnt read my op.
The post to me was anything but clear. I understand that a lot of people enjoy the lore of these games, but i dont care much for it. But if these factions are for multiplayer, im hoping for clarification that it will affect gameplay or that this will be purely singleplayer. Stop posting if you have nothing constructive.
Personally, I'd be OK with mechanical differences based on which Commander you choose. Maybe Delta gets a discount on bots, or Theta's orbital units have more hit points. Nothing huge, but it would be nice to be able to skew your army toward your play style.
The problem with that is, it would be unbalanced if some commanders were not available to all players. Anyways, is there a dev that can confirm whether ubers stance on factions has changed?
There will not be Army-wide modifiers. They will be individual abilities that affect the Commander, and only the Commander. There will never be an ability that 'Gives a discount on Bots'. Also, All Commander abilities are available to all players. The specific combinations vary, but every single one is represented in the Commander Pool. At last word there will be (approximately) 100 Commanders for release, each with a unique (and non-modifiable) combination of two abilities. I highly suspect that includes the $1k backer Commanders[1] .
100 commanders is a lot. All different models too? Or just minor color variations upon a few commanders? I'll still be using my trusty alpha all the way through though. Unless something awesome is there. Like a bacon commander. I would pay for a bacon commander as DLC, on top of the 100 bucks I paid for the alpha access.
Different models, yes... not sure about Animations or Rigs. In fact... we're pretty sure we're set on just four rigs.
