    Hello .

I got beta access through steam and before i upgraded in windows 8 i could play the game now i cannot.

i got a l855 toshiba Satellite with 8.9 Amd driver (the latest toshiba released)

When i start the game there is a message "PA.EXE has stopped working " and it shuts down. I have deleted reinstalled and verified the files twice now

If there is no solution can i download and play the game from a different cilient outside steam?

    Thanks in advance

That's Impossible, The Beta hasn't started yet so I have to assume you meant Alpha instead of Beta.

Either way run DxDiag.exe and attach it to your post.

As Mike said please upload your DxDiag, but anyway:
You should use generic driver from AMD website, there is no way game will work with outdated drivers. Use this link:

just uploaded it . the validation tool it downloads doesnt permit you to download it

there are workarounds to manually do it but no other games have a problem so i prefer not to meddle

You need to understand that when you use outdated drivers you downscale performance in all games, not only in this one.

But if you won't update drivers PA won't work for you, so there is no choice.

It is not a matter of choice

Toshiba releases drivers once every six months . Laptop manufacturers tend to do that. I tried doing the update from AMD site but the validtion tool tells me that my card is not supported and the driver install just setups the AMD setup programm not the actuall driver.

So its not my will to do so i have to due to the manufacturer.

Most laptop manufacturers abandon graphics drivers updates less than in year after it's goes on market. There was probably 30-40 people with AMD card who have same problem, you can check for those topics in search ("latest beta drivers").

Everyone installed generic drivers and most of people are happy, exclude one poor guy with HP laptop who can't use brightness control with generic drivers.

I'm recommend you to backup important data from laptop and then download and install "Latest Beta Driver". It's never hurt anyone on this forum or Steam forums, but I'm recommend backup just to be sure nothing lost.

PS: Also I want to notice that there is no 100% guarantee that problem in graphics drivers (cuz your fairly new, some pople had drivers from 2009), but there is no way to find problem while your drivers is outdated.
