Hey guys I have the BEST mod idea ever, okay now.. stay with me for a second.. trees...

    THEY MUS BE DELETED! >:l

I'd like it a looooot if someone could find SOMEWAY to delete the tree models or something, not sure if it's possible, I've attempted it a few times but I can't figure out how, this isn't because they look bad or something it's because it honestly causes quite a bit of lag on earth likes for me at least... so I'd really enjoy it if someone could find a way! Please? :3

Step 1: Open Notepad as administrator
    Step 2: File -> Open
Step 3: Navigate to your PA/media/shaders folder
Step 4: Make sure you are viewing All Files
Step 5: Find the file named "prelight_flat.fs"
Step 6: Comment out (put a "//" before without the quotes) the line that says "void main {"
    Step 7: ????
    Step 8: PROFIT!

I actually tried this out, it reduces strain on the graphics card by a massive margin. If you have performance issues I'd recommend trying this.

Edit: Mind you this removes small rocks as well. These objects are inconsequential to gameplay but they remove a lot of the aesthetics of moons, lava planets, earthlikes, tropical planets... Pretty much everything but Metal Planets, which could do with less little bits.

You can also run PA.exe with the --nofeatures flag.

This also disable metal spots as 3D objects and only leave them on texture, but yeah it's good way to avoid lags.

You could use Zaphod's modified metal texture and the --nofeatures flag in combination for maximum framerates and still keeping the game playable. Also turn off shadows if you haven't already.

I have tried it in no steam version:

    have tried the following:

    "D:\Planetary Annihilation\PA\PA.exe" --nofeatures
    "D:\Planetary Annihilation\PA\PA.exe" -nofeatures
    "D:\Planetary Annihilation\PA\PA.exe" "--nofeatures"

The above did not work. Any other solution (trees were still there)? No mods...

Here's a mod i made a while ago for ZaphodX to reduce tree quality to improve framerates..
    https://forums.uberent.com/threads/rel-tree-quality-reducer.53852/

I can edit the mod so it completely removes the trees too...
