I do not know if anyone else is having this problem, but I have noticed it the last couple of weeks, and have not been able to see anyone else talking about it.

When my game is loading, on a planet I created, I am no longer able to choose a starting position, and when the planet does initiate, the AI has already been playing for at least a minute already. (I found that out after the position was so bad, I self destructed my commander, and saw how much had already been built by the rest of the AI's in the game)

During the "starting game" process, it freezes a lot (Not responding appears on the task bar), then eventually the planet loads and I have already landed.

If it is just me having the problem, any ideas on how to rectify it? I always get left with the worst position :(

My internet speed is 74 meg download, and 16 meg upload. Dxdiag attached. Thank you in advance.

No, it's not only you. There is multiple people who have long loading times. But I still have no idea what data might be useful to understand reason of this problem.

Can you please open this directory:
    C:\Users\ YOUR_WINDOWS_USER \AppData\Local\Uber Entertainment\Planetary Annihilation\log\
And upload logs from it here on forum.

Some Idea: you can clean this log directory (remove all files), then run game, open system editor and then generate one planet with any parameters you like. Then post here your new log (it will be created when you start game) and all params required to generate same planet.
Probably it's just generate planet slowly, and it's what we can actually check.

Can you try generate planet in editor and give me same log with generation params?

PS: Currently I can only recommend you try to play on planets with less radius.
