    I agree with having a forum home for Suggestions. Perhaps even a Suggestion Box for each game? It would need to be respectful and understood that not all concepts can be implemented, but at least there'd be a home for all these awesome ideas!

    I respectfully disagree. I think it's a good idea for each idea to have its own thread. That allows for discussion, organic development and refinement of said idea :)

    I'm sure that they don't intend to ever have a cap. "No pre-set unit caps" as mentioned on their store page, probably means that the unit cap is purely based on the performance of the server. The only thing I can imagine them doing is that if they detect X amount of units is that it displays a warning that the unit count above X amount and that stable gameplay can't be guaranteed.

    Well there will certainly be something that is a 'unit cap', but unlike something like Starcraft where the unit cap is something you run into on a fairly consistent basis, PA's unit cap will be more akin to SupCom's Unit Cap, something that you don't really run into unless you are actively aiming to hit it and gives a huge range of freedom to work within it.

    It's more so a Unit Cap that exists for technical reasons compared to Starcraft's where the Unit Cap exists as a Gameplay Mechanic.

    Basically this. The big goal is to reach a million units, but supporting even a few thousand is better than any game you'll find on the market.

    Let's say a server bought in 2013 with average specifications can handle 300k units. Let's say the unit cap is then set at 250k units to ensure stable performance. Wouldn't a server bought in 2017 be a lot faster, able to handle maybe three times that amount?

    What exactly are the technical limitations that would prevent unit numbers scaling up when the technology does as well?

    That is a separate item entirely.

    There is nothing stopping from the over all system from being very dynamic to help the game's longevity. But in the end the Unit Cap in PA/SupCom is never meant to restrict the gameplay.

    Hello,

    I really like this game type format. One key component that I loved from other similar formats was the "squad formation" submenu in Star Trek Armada Series. It is a very valuable tool and would like to see it in other games.

    so my airborne fabbers won't be getting a "priority" switch. Bummer :p
    And the 1000 unit cap in Supcom limits the heck out of the games I play with my friends, out battles are THAT HUGE.

    I'll probably need a new video card anyway. And motherboard. That was not made in 2001.

    Also cfeil, I recall that in Supcom. when you click and hold, you can get your units to move in formation...

    If the unit number in the ctrl+p menu is correct and shows unit number, then I regularly break the 3000 unit mark in almost every longer game I play. So yeah, the 1000 unit limit in supcom really would be bad. :D

    Considering how insanely overpopulated you can get by building Bots, that 3000 unit figure doesn't surprise me.

    Well obviously we can't use the same exact number as SupCom, but the Theory behind it as I put forward is still sound.

    it's different though. now you spam up a ton of factories that all constantly spam units, you hit 1000 pretty fast.

    ??? And? I just said that we can't use SupCom's raw number of a 1000 unit limit.
