I have no doubt you guys hate threads like this, but I'm hopeless with computers and didn't know where else to go.
    My specs:
    Dell Inspiron N7010
    Intel i5
    4 GBs of ram

    If you can help, thanks!

We don't really hate threads like this, just need more info. ;-) Video card? OS? Your proc is fine, and memory should work for most games.

I'll be honest with you, you won't have a great time with that computer. It has an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics graphic card :
    Graphics Media Accelerator Series
Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) HD Graphics 12 @ 500MHz Bit
    Pipelines: 12 - unified
    Core Speed: *500 MHz
    Shader Speed: *500 MHz
    Shared Memory: yes
    DirectX: DirectX 10, Shader 4.0
    technology45 nm

do not hope to play well on this. You'll have to stick to the small planets to not overload your graphic card and avoid running the game at 0.1 fps.

Thanks for replying! My OS is Windows 7, so I think I'm fine on that count.
I don't know about my graphics card, as the DirectX Diagnostic program just lists it as Intel(R) HD Graphics.
    Hope this helps!

Yeah, you're using integrated graphics. As has been said above, you're not going to have a good time with this yet :p

Also why are you asking? You own game and can't run it, or just planning to buy?

Then you could buy it if you want support development, but you won't get any playable framerate on your laptop. Uber want to push some optimizations in next builds, but your integrated GPU really bellow minimal requirements.

    Also you have outdated drivers:
    Code:
    Driver Date/Size: 4/1/2010 10:47:00, 6534144 bytes
I recommend you to grab latest drivers (no mater you will buy PA or not):

i have a similar laptop to this with a 2 year old mid level (at the time) graphics card and i can run size 3 planets 4 player perfectly fine. remember also that the game is not yet optimised at all. i don't think its helpful for people to be advising others to get out the wallets just yet.

That's not entirely true. I do most of my gaming on my Mac Book Pro (Either boot camped or in Mac OS when it's an option) A decent fan cooling rest and a memory upgrade is about all that's needed. :) Running a 2011 Mac Book with 16GB of memory, and while it may not scream, from PA to Civ to Borderlands 2, it's always been great to game on.

Gogogo Macbook Pro! I'm planning to get a 15 inch retina one in september and I'm going to play PA on it for sure. My current computer, my late 2010 iMac, does run PA 'pretty well', but I've seen way better.
I hope the purchase will be well worth it :D

I also use a ThinkPad W530 for my Gaming/3D/PS/Whatever on the go. It can Handle FA just fine.

Put it this way, Im running windows 8, on a 4.2ghz 17 quad core, with a Radeon 7950 series 3gb , with 8 gb memory, I struggle to run it smoothly on scale 3 maps with 10 people on, At one point the game was using 5.5gb of my memory like WTF ! Never used anything taking up that much memory
