    Yes having widescreen is WHY I'd like fixed width. I just find fixed width easier to read rather than having a whole paragraph span across the screen on one line. I think you'll find most websites have fixed widths or deal with the content in some way to make sure this doesn't happen. There are exceptions of course.. slashdot.org for example. For this website I use a Firefox plugin to fix the width just on my browser.

    The width is just fine, IMHO.

    I can't get used to the font though, and so much space is wasted on gradients, rounded corners, border spacing and other graphical elements. But it does not only waste screen space, it also distracts a lot from the actual content. Not uniform fonts and font sizes make it actually even worse, and so does the unnecessary use of different colored backgrounds with no semantical meaning.

    When it comes to design on a message board, the most simple approach is usually the best when it comes to usability and readability. And yes, a tabular layout is perfectly legit for that purpose, uniform fonts, as few graphics as possible and variating background colors used for semantic purposes only.

    And I don't find the avatars that helpful either. For me, names have top priority, I don't wanna have to remember avatars, especially since they are going to change frequently anyway and multiple people are using the same. And they are completely missplaced in the thread overview as they only bloat up the list.
    The option to block signatures all together is missing too.

    Another point:
    Pagenumbers in section overview. They only show up on hover, which feels really weird. Needless to say, I'm not really a friend of hover effects at all. Even less so, if I don't even know if there is going to be a hover effect, which isn't in this case if there is only a single page, but I can't tell until I try.

    Last but not least: I'm missing autologin.
    In the old forums, you could easily bypass the Uber login and use the built in login which had an (working) autologin checkbox. This does no longer work with the new forum and having to relog every time the session expires is ... tiresome, especially since read access is limited when not logged in, too, so having a bookmark straight on the PA alpha forums isn't working.

    Thank you for working that out, but IMO all those features should be provided by the forum software (and I think most of them do). Common problems should not be solved on an individual basis.

    I couldn't agree more with exterminans and I hope these points will be tackled when work on a proper theme starts.
    There is an option (I'm a link) though to disable signatures.

    Ah, thats just another point: Embedded links are not distinguishable from regular text in the default design.

    Just found the option to deactivate signatures, thank you.

    Thanks a lot, now I just need to make myself a greasemonkey script to change the forum colours and I'm happy again. :D

    Edit: If you click reply on a post which isn't on the last page of a thread (for example page 10 here) the reply temporarly shows up on that page (10) instead of the latest page (11). This is quite confusing as when you reload the thread then, its suddenly on the last page (11) instead of where it was shown before (page 10).

    Times New Roman is silly.

    Funny enough, the web guy who I had building my website used Comic Sans as the default font because "It looked like what you wanted me to use".

    I found a new dev.

    Shouldn't the default timezone be PST since Uber's in Kirkland?

    Well, there's a spambot in the Uber Entertainment section I just reported, so see if it can be reported again

    I'd prefer Jokerman.

    I have implemented a working auto-login on my dev-environment, will have to do some code clean-up before I can deploy it here, but it's coming!

    I dont expect small options like these to be put in any time soon for forum software. Besides, it only takes me 30 seconds to figure each one out.

    Requires StyleBot or your browsers equivalent:
    span.itemPageNav {
    visibility: visible;
    }

    Doesn't show all page numbers like the old forums unfortunately, but its doable

    I feel like the forums are in dire need of new theme. Forum readability went down for me. A lot :)

    The new design is cool and all, but why is the default font Times New Roman? Why not something like DejaVu Sans, Verdana, or even Impact?
