I'm probably going to get shot for making this, but what the heck.

Anybody happen to watch the finals for the Dota 2 International Tournament? Some fun stuff. That last match was especially intense.
(And I don't usually watch that kind of thing. I just tuned in out of curiosity, and couldn't stop watching.)

That was the best gaming event I've seen in my life. Hopefully going to attend in person next year. c:

I considered watching it, but decided against it at the last minute, because I'm EU and I already stayed up for qcon. My loss it seems.

If you can, watch the replays on twitch. The first four games were fun back and forth (starting out with two stomps), but the last game was just incredible, and totally worth watching, even for people who have never played the game before.

WCS was far more interesting to me. Team based competitions are pretty boring and lame because of the crutch factor of having to rely on other people. I don't know why so many people watch moba's but I believe it has something to do with the low skillcap required to play and the 'its not my fault because team'. Unfortunately, no other titles come close to the advertising and media capability of dota/valve and league/riot to push forward their tournaments. The only thing I really despise of those games is the trollmunity. Its like xbox live out there.

What do either of those things have to do with why people watch them?

I thoroughly enjoyed the grand finale with Aliance vs Na'Vi.

    *spoiler*

I just can't believe Na'Vi didn't notice that they were getting split pushed while doing Roshan and marching up to the Dire base.

I wouldn't say they didn't notice, interviews with Dendi afterward indicated that they were very aware. Dendi said it was the stupidest thing they could have done and it cost them the game.

Ah. It was definitely quite a huge mistake; anyone knows that a fairly farmed Chaos Knight has the potential to wreck towers like a 5-man team. Same goes for Nature's Prophet.

here's the interview I was talking about, pretty awful interview in terms of rubbing salt into wound and dendi probably just wanting to be left alone......but still informative. He talks about the exact moment at 2mins.
