Will we be able to build Support Commanders in PA ? (I done a search but couldn't find an exact answer)
You sound disappointed. Don't worry... Someone will Mod it; probably before the game even releases in December.
I think ultimately the difference between a Support Commander and a Decoy Commander will be whether or not he can use the Uber Cannon. And build stuff of course, but the Uber Cannon is paramount.
AHAHAHAHAHA x'D Mass support commander RAS? best way to get fast eco? TP - nuke defense kill? Sera SACU tml-teleport, or TML drop (really fast and used a whole lot) UEF SACU plus shield and gun could take out waves upon waves of t3 I'm only stating the best of the top of my head there's also: renaming SCU Snipe Juke They are OP is what they are.
Decoys yes. But otherwise they are just what commanders should be capable of and thus make commanders seem worthless in comparison.
you forgot to read the contents of my post.... I put them by order of power. RAS + SACU RAS spam is by far the best use of SACU out there. it even seems like a hack or a cheat when you use it, but it's not it was part of the game from the get-go. and it's epic.
But it's stupid that a support unit has greater capability's then that of the commander when it is a support commander.
it doesn't there's just no limit appart from unit cap to how many you can get. (i like how SACUs in this conversation went from being useless to imba)
No, they are useless, if you let you opponent get them... You are on equal levels of suck. Resources are better put elsewhere.
They were pretty good if you managed to get some out, yeah it was rare on smaller games but on 3v3 and 4v4 players could pull it off pretty easily, the actual factory that made them was pretty cheap for T3, the upgrades weren't but by then you would have T3 power + T3 mass to support this. I thought the upgrades were dam good, and in a phantom game well they were the boss.
yeah and anyhow that's not even the point support comanders have a world of strategies to bring to Pa, they'd need to have some varying capabilities though, I think it would be interesting for the varieties of support commanders that they be built and balanced the same way as commanders. it would probably add some extra depth to the coice of your commander at the begining of the game to have to decide also between the support commanders you would get afterwards. The simplest option being of course that support commander you'd get would be unvariably tied to the commander you chose. So you'd have to weight the ups and down of both sup coms and coms depending on wich you planned to use most. And yes you wouldn't get access to the Alpha-only support commanders and delta-only support commanders but that's cool.
IRWPWASMAIMIRHTTWYAS In case you need a translation, because yes it is nice when people can read your post without a content approved dictionary and a team of translators I Really Wish People Wouldn't Abbreviate So Much As It Makes It Really Hard To Tell What You Are Saying.
There won't be unit upgrades, so an upgradeable SACU is pretty much out of the question. As it stands, Commanders aren't combat specialists. A Comm's high value comes from the ability to drop down on new worlds and build up without any support or supply lines. That sort of thing doesn't translate into PA beyond the start of the game. Any suitable mass produced weapon can be fitted to a standard unit without issue. The Commander's unique role demands non standard weapons that may not be efficient or viable for everyday use. For example, there's no point putting an ubergun on every unit, if they're crazy expensive and leave a gigantic crater when they blow up. The Total Annihilation decoy was questionably useful. It might be useful here, as it does add a bit of luck element to Comm snipes. On the down side, its entire function is based on luck more than anything else.
noone suggested an upgradable SACU (short for Support Armored Command Unit, the support commander), if we mentioned SACU upgrades it was because someone said SACUs in FA sucked and was blissfully wrong. As for the abbreviations, sorry I was being a bit speed and forgot to devellop. abbreviations: TP stands for TelePortation TML means Tactical Missile Launcher (yes comanders and support commanders could have those babies) RAS stands for Resource Allocation System, small words for "give me the money" and when you could get unlimited SACUs that meant you could get unlimited of that upgrade. lingo: mass = duplicated in a great or overabundant quantity drop means to get transported by a transport. shield and gun is two seperate upgrades one making the gun around 3 times more powerfull the other addding an energy shield. And finallly renaming SACU snipe juke: support commanders were only slightly resemblant to commanders but their real advantage was having the same strategic icon as a commander. Giving that support commander a name (your name) and leaving him out in the open while hiding your real commander and renaming him to *blank* would often (very often) juke, that is fool, your opponent. who would send in his very expensive kill force and loose it all for nothing. this could give you the upper hand especially when this was an area you protected well against air and he sends in all his air force in support and looses a lot of it while you retain the same quantity.
