Well i did a quick search and nothing came up for this, how many of you either watch Anime or read Manga? i personally prefer anime, of course with english subs not dubbed. There only animes i ever watched that were english dubbed was DBZ and Neon Genesis Evangelions, probably my 2 favorite, so what are your favorites and just discuss them here. Currently i am watching Bleach and Naruto Shippuden....stupid fillers in Naruto though.. fun fact, did you know the over 9000 thing in DBZ was actually meant to be over 8000..
I used to be big into anime and manga. Then the industry became cookie cutter and stagnant. Still love some anime and manga. Personally I can't stand some otaku people though, the ones that pretend to be Japanese by using random tidbits of the language and want to move to Japan because it'll be filled with horny, pink haired teenage girls. I just dislike fans that can ruin something and anime got ruined to me by a few fans(coughfriends) like that.
I really really hate to admit it, but naruto is something of a guilty pleasure of mine Other than that I liked Cowboy Bebop and that's pretty much it except for Princess Mononoke. It's funny that I just can't handle watching it anymore; I'm crushed under the weight of its eye-watering nostalgia
As far as favorite animes go I definitely have to list my number one favorite of all time as Trigun. If not that than the original dot hack sign. Both absolutely amazing in their own right just a bit too short. @Rhineville; not sure if you've heard but they are planning on making a live action cowboy bebop with Keanu Reeves as spike
when i heard about the bebop movie with Keanu i was so happy, i watched some of it when i was like 10 but don't remember it all that much i really need to watch it...
I liked the first series of Digimon and Pokemon. And the one with Flamedramon in it. I don't watch much more cause all the japanese ones are milking the random fad now. I think have my little handheld thing toy too. The one you shake up and down a lot.
I used to be on an anime kick a few years back and still own quite a bit. My favorites are Rurouni Kenshin, Noir and Evangelion.
Personally I'd rather have a great anime end quickly instead of it dragging on, losing its plot and time line. and making nothing but fillers with like three episodes or story.
i hate the REALLY long one buts i like decent length ones would of been better if it was around 50ish eps but ah well. still great
Have you tried the latest game they put out a demo for on xbl? It's crazy - it's a 3rd person/isometric fighter and it looks exactly like the cartoon as you're playing it. Maybe the most successful art I've seen in a vid game as far as reproducing other art goes. Love Evagelion and Samurai Shamploo is probably my fav. I enjoyed that one with the alchemist kids for a bit but lost it after I missed too many episodes, don't remember the name right now... Let me show my age here too- I saw Akira in the theaters and it was amazing, especially at the time. Also used to really dig Appleseed as far as paper goes.
Personally I don't think anime or manga as a whole average out to be any better than western cartoons or comics; most of both suck due to the rule of thumb with art: 90% of it sucks, 5% of you won't like due to its (sub-)genre, and the remaining 1-5% ranges from mediocre to good to simply amazing. With that out of the way... Excel Saga. HFS Excel Saga. The rare anime adaptation that purposely strays from its source material and works beautifully! How can you go wrong with a series about a comically inept evil corporation-dealie trying to conquer the world a single city at a time whose agents are all named after hotels and falls into a bad habit of letting their only active agents die every single episode? There's also Excel's psychotically high usage of puns that don't work out as well in English(if you watch the series you NEED the AD Vidnotes enabled to understand them) and the director's less-than-serious self insertion in the form of Nabeshin...Nabehameha! Not to be confused with the guy that directed Cowboy Bebop. Trigun. It kicks ***, srsly. It does humor well and when it gets to it's actual plot it's pretty sweet. On a sidenote, Vash the stampede also inspired Dante of the Devil May Cry games. Nifty, huh? Cowboy Bebop isn't bad at all, but in my opinion it is usually overrated. It's far from being bad, but it's not the best thing ever either. Fullmetal Alchemist is pretty good as well. Both the first anime that strayed from the manga and the Brotherhood one that came later are worth the time to watch in my opinion. Special mentions to a few mediocre titles I like: the Big O(which has much less to do with sex than it's title appears to imply) and Outlaw Star. There's also the multiple Gundam anime that are(mostly) completely separate from each other...The 08th MS Team was a decent spin on making the franchise seem more like actual warfare, the original Mobile Suit Gundam isn't bad for its time(1979), and I recommend steering well clear of G, Wing, and Seed. They're...questionable.
i remember watching some gundam when i was little on toonami i had no idea what it was about and it didn't interest me in the slightest....of course back then it was all DBZ
Yeah, Gundam's always been bad about that. If you don't watch them from the first episode you're probably going to find yourself thinking "why is Char in ZAFT, OZ, and apparently about to jizz his pants over Exia?"
I don't watch too much but Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is my fav, Though the ending does disappoint me a little bit.
i perfer manga to anime, but i do have a megavideo acct lifetime membership ($200), so that shows i like me some anime. favorite is yuyu hakusho. nice blend of everything i like, as far as personalities and general genre. its supposedly more leaned torwards action-anime-loving chicks, go figure  :| watching rurouni kenshin right now. same thing about action romance chickflick thing, but i think more guys like it than yuyu hakusho as well. also nice and long deathnote is nearly favorite. damn that it didnt last so much longer than 30 episodes, God i hate the ending too. soo abrupt for something that coulda been fun for so much longer. but it doesnt lose too many points, cuz of how long it stretches the time in the show, over most of the main character's lifespan. it just needed more episodes instead of only a few episodes representing a year's worth of time in-show. cowboy bebop, trigun, bleach, big o, inuyasha, case closed, all good. adult swim had some good ones back in the day, eh? elven lied, i wouldnt recommend it for younger people tho, as the first 15 minutes of the first episode will show the most graphic violence and nudity youll probably ever see in an anime while still giving the anime a good stroyline. speaking of, i couldnt believe it when i googled some MNC pics and found the most explicitly adult manga-based scanned hand drawing. it was a pretty good drawing, i just couldnt believe someone would draw something freaky of the assassin and pitgirl that would belong on a adult site. if you hafta see it to believe it, well id get banned for even mentioning how to find it, but if your really wanted to see it then you could find it yuorself right?
Rule 34, Tranquility. If it exists, there IS porn of it. I love Anime/Manga. Though I favor manga infinitely more. The anime is nice for seeing it come to life, but it just stretches stuff out to long to hold my interest (DBZ, Naruto) or deviates from the original plot and fails epically (Negima). If we're talking favorites, Change 123 is on the top tier. Along with Code Breaker, Soul Eater, Naruto, Bleach, Mirai Nikki, Negima, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Gamble Fish and that's all I can think of at the moment. My all time favorite, by far, right now, is hands down The World God Only Knows. Completely original, never seen anything like it. The art's great, and it's got something for just about everyone.
